Ken Brogan
Ken Brogan (1927–2006) was an Australian rugby league footballer who played in the 1940s and 1950s. He played for South Sydney in the New South Wales Rugby League (NSWRL) competition during the club's second golden era where they won 5 premierships from 7 grand final appearances between 1949 and 1955. Background Brogan was the son of Frank Brogan who was a premiership winning player with South Sydney in the 1920s. Brogan was a ball boy with Souths before being graded by the club at the age of 16. Playing career Brogan made his first grade debut for Souths in 1945. In the same year, the club finished last on the table winning only one game all season. The following year it did not get any better for Souths as they went the entire 1946 season without winning a game. The New South Wales Rugby League (NSWRL) is the governing body of rugby league in New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory and is a member of the Australian Rugby League Commission. It was formed in Sydney on 8 August 1907 and was known as the New South Wales Rugby Football League (NSWRFL) until 1984. Frank Brogan (1903–1961) was an Australian rugby league footballer who played in the 1920s. He played as a halfback with South Sydney during the club's golden era of the 1920s when they won 5 premierships. Playing career Brogan made his debut for South Sydney in 1922 against Newtown as an 18-year-old. In 1924, Brogan was selected to play for New South Wales and featured in two matches. St George Dragons
The St. George Dragons is an Australian rugby league football club from St George District in Sydney, New South Wales that played in the top level New South Wales competition and Australian Rugby League competitions from the 1921 until the 1997 ARL season, as well as the unified 1998 National Rugby League season. The Western Suburbs Magpies (legal name: Western Suburbs District Rugby League Football Club Ltd) are an Australian rugby league football club based in the western suburbs of Sydney, New South Wales. Formed in 1908, Wests, as they are commonly referred to, were one of the nine foundation clubs of the first New South Wales Rugby League competition in Australia.
