Ken "Fleetwood Smith" Baxter (20 August 1917 – 27 April 1959) was an Australian rules football Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Points are scored by k ...er in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Family The son of William John Baxter, and Margaret Baxter, née Nihill, Kenneth Matthew Patrick Baxter was born on 20 August 1917. His brother, Bernie Baxter also played with Carlton. He married Alice Maisie Diggins in 1944. Death He died, suddenly, on 27 April 1959. The Essendon Football Club, nicknamed the Bombers, is a professional Australian rules football club. The club plays in the Australian Football League (AFL), the game's premier competition. Windy Hill (officially known as Essendon Recreation Reserve) is an Australian rules football and cricket ground located in Napier Street, Essendon, a northwestern suburb of the Melbourne metropolitan area. The Australian Football League (AFL) is the only fully professional competition of Australian rules football. Through the AFL Commission, the AFL also serves as the sport's governing body and is responsible for controlling the laws of the game.
