Kempen–Venlo Railway
The Kempen–Venlo railway was a former railway line from Kempen in the Lower Rhine region of the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia to Venlo in the Netherlands. It was of built by the Rhenish Railway Company (german: Rheinische Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft, RhE) and opened for freight on 23 December 1867 and for passenger traffic on 1 January 1868. History In the mid-1860s there were three different routes considered for the railway line. Option A would have passed by the Krickenbeck lakes. Option B was planned as a line past Dorenburg castle (to the north of Grefrath) towards Hinsbeck and southeast of Leuth towards Kaldenkirchen. The realised route corresponded to the proposed option C. There were also considerations for a short time of building a branch line from Lobberich via Boisheim to Waldniel. Nijmegen–Venlo Railway
The Nijmegen–Venlo railway, also called Maaslijn, is a railway line in the Netherlands running from Nijmegen to Venlo, passing through Boxmeer and Venray. The line was opened in 1883. Between 2006 and 2016, passenger transport on the line was exploited by Veolia. From 2016 to 2031, Arriva will provide train services on the line. Future The line is planned to be electrified in 2024. Once this is completed it is planned to operate additional fast services along the line. ProRail halted the project in April 2022, citing a rise in the cost of materials and other problems due to the Russo-Ukraine War. DB Class V 90
The DB Class V90 (after 1968 the DB Class 290) locomotive is a German road switcher diesel-hydraulic locomotive for shunting and freight hauling. History and design The DB Class V90 locomotives are similar to DB Class V 100 (Class 211 & 212) locomotives, they stemmed from a need for a heavy shunting locomotive - it was originally planned to create a heavy shunting variant of the V 100 (ballasted and with reinforced frame) to be produced, but this did not come to pass due to the design's stability problems. DB Class ETA 150
The accumulator cars of Class ETA 150 (Class 515 from 1968) were German railbuses used extensively by Deutsche Bundesbahn (DB) for 40 years. The railcars were very comfortable to travel in because they were quiet (despite the typical Dc_motors#Noise, whine of their DC motors), rode well on the rails owing to the weight of the batteries, and were pollution-free (no smoke or fumes). Uerdingen Railbus
The Uerdingen railbus (German: ''Uerdinger Schienenbus'') is the common term for the multiple units which were developed by the German firm of Waggonfabrik Uerdingen for the Deutsche Bundesbahn and private railways after the Second World War. These vehicles were diesel-powered, twin-axle railbuses of light construction. The diesel motors were built into the chassis underneath the vehicle. The VT 95 (later DB Class 795) and VT 98 (later DB Class 798) of the former Deutsche Bundesbahn in particular, are associated with this concept.
