Kelston Railway Station
Kelston was a small railway station about four miles west of Bath on the Midland Railway's Mangotsfield and Bath Branch Line. History Kelston Station was opened in 1869 when the Midland Railway opened its Mangotsfield to Bath branchline. The station was located a short distance across some fields from the village of Kelston and closer to the village of Saltford on the other side of the River Avon, which it was connected to by a footpath that ran alongside the railway on the bridge over the river. For many years the station was known as "Kelston (for Saltford)", although Saltford had its own station on the Great Western Main Line. The station generated little traffic apart from race days at Bath Racecourse, which could be reached by a three-mile trek over the fields, mostly uphill, or regatta days at Saltford. Kelston
Kelston is a small village and civil parish in Somerset, north west of Bath, and east of Bristol, on the A431 road. It is situated just north of the River Avon, close to the Kelston and Saltford locks. The parish has a population of 248. History Kelston was part of the hundred of Bath Forum. The name of the village was recorded as ''Calveston'' in 1178. The familiar ''-ton'' ending indicates farmstead or estate. The first part of the name may mean "belonging to a person, possibly Celf or Caelf". However, it may mean a place where calves were reared. It is the site of the Elizabethan Kelston Manor House, built by the Harington family and demolished in the 18th century. St Philip's railway station was a small terminus station in Bristol built by the Midland Railway to relieve pressure on the main station at Bristol Temple Meads, which it shared with the Great Western Railway. Weston (Bath) was a small railway station in Bath, England, about a mile west of Bath Green Park railway station on the Midland Railway line. It was opened in 1869 when the Midland Railway's Bath branch was opened. It was served by stopping trains to Mangotsfield and the Bristol Midland Railway terminus at St Philips or Bristol Temple Meads, via Bitton and Oldland Common. Originally called just Weston, its name was altered to Weston (Bath) in 1934 to avoid confusion with Weston-super-Mare (usually referred to by local people as just "Weston"). Mangotsfield Railway Station
Mangotsfield railway station was a railway station on the Midland Railway route between Bristol and Birmingham, north-east of and from , serving what is now the Bristol suburb of Mangotsfield. The station was opened in 1845 by the Bristol and Gloucester Railway, but had very little in the way of passenger amenities. The station was resited in 1869 to serve the new Mangotsfield and Bath Branch Line, and became an important junction station with extensive facilities and six platforms. Passenger footfall however failed to match the station's size, though at its peak eight staff were employed. The station closed in 1966 when services to Bath ended as part of the Beeching cuts, and the line through the station closed in 1969. Green Park railway station is a former railway station in Bath, Somerset, England. For most of its life, it was known as ''Bath Queen Square''. Architecture and opening Green Park station was opened in 1870 as the terminus of Midland Railway's Mangotsfield and Bath Branch Line. The station buildings were designed by the Midland Railway architect John Holloway Sanders. It was built in an elegant style which blends well with the Georgian buildings around it and includes a vaulted glass roof in a single-span wrought iron arch structure. The platform accommodation in the station was modest, having an arrival platform and a departure platform, with two sidings between them.
