Kelly Turner
Admiral (United States), Admiral Richmond Kelly Turner (May 27, 1885 – February 12, 1961), commonly known as Admiral Kelly Turner, served in the United States Navy during World War II, and is best known for commanding the Amphibious Force, Pacific Fleet, Amphibious Force during the Pacific War, campaign across the Pacific. Admiral Turner was responsible for the creation of the Underwater Demolition Team, Underwater Demolition Teams (UDT) that were an early precursor to the United States Navy SEALs, United States Navy Seals. Stockton High School (1904–1966), home of the Tarzans, was a high school in Stockton, California, part of the Stockton Unified School District. It opened in 1904 on property bounded by Harding Way, Vine, San Joaquin and California streets. Underwater Demolition Team
Underwater Demolition Teams (UDT), or frogmen, were amphibious units created by the United States Navy during World War II with specialized non-tactical missions. They were predecessors of the navy's current SEAL teams. Their primary WWII function began with reconnaissance and underwater demolition of natural or man-made obstacles obstructing amphibious landings. Postwar they transitioned to scuba gear changing their capabilities. With that they came to be considered more elite and tactical during the Korean and Vietnam Wars.
