Kelli Underwood
Kelli Underwood (born 1977) is an Australian radio and television sports journalist and sportscaster specialising in Australian rules football, netball and tennis. She was the first woman to call an Australian Football League match on television and radio. Underwood is host of ABC's ''Offsiders'' and a regular panelist on the Fox Sports program '' The Back Page''. She also calls AFL and AFLW football on Fox Footy and ABC Grandstand. Radio career Underwood's work began in regional radio at Murray Bridge, South Australia. She worked at Geelong station K-Rock before moving to 3AW in Melbourne as a sports reporter and AFL match day reporter. Underwood is part of the ABC Radio Grandstand team, calling AFL games mainly on Friday nights. Sports journalism is a form of writing that reports on matters pertaining to sporting topics and competitions. Sports journalism started in the early 1800s when it was targeted to the social elite and transitioned into an integral part of the news business with newspapers having dedicated sports sections. ''Sports Tonight'' is an Australian sports news and information program, hosted by Roz Kelly. The original series, which was developed by executive producer Steve Tucker, aired between 1993 and 2011, before it was revived in 2018 and axed again in 2020. History Original run The show ran from 1993 to 2011. From 1993 until 2005, the show ran for half an hour on each weeknight after '' Ten Late News''. The two shows merged in 2006, but there was some criticism by viewers that ''Sports Tonight'' was not long enough, and that it should have remained the same. Gerard Whateley
Gerard Whateley is a Melbourne-based sports broadcaster and writer. Since January 2018 he has been chief sports caller and host of the ''Whateley'' program on the sports radio station SEN1116. He is also co-host of Fox Footy's ''AFL 360'' program and an occasional sports columnist for the ''Herald Sun'' newspaper. Career Whateley started his media career at the ''Herald Sun'' newspaper. He spent six years at the paper during which he gained experience including police rounds, courts and state politics. He was also involved in the research of the ''Herald Sun''s hardback book ''Our Home Front'', documenting life in Australia during the Second World War from the newspapers of the time. Anthony 'Huddo' Hudson (born 10 April 1971) is an Australian sports commentator in television and radio. He mainly commentates Australian rules football. He also writes for News Corp newspapers. Hudson has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism which he earned in 1993 at RMIT University. Hudson became well known during the 1990s as a commentator for 3AW Football and subsequently the Seven Network and then Network Ten where he cemented his name.
