Melis Abzalov
Melis Abzalov ( uz, Melis Abzalov, Мелис Абзалов; russian: Мелис Абзалов; November 18, 1938 – October 26, 2016) was an Uzbek people, Uzbek actor, film director, screenwriter, and film producer. His most famous films include ''Suyunchi'' (1982), ''Kelinlar qoʻzgʻoloni (film), Kelinlar qoʻzgʻoloni'' (1984), ''Armon (film), Armon'' (1986), and ''Oʻtgan kunlar (film), Oʻtgan kunlar'' (1997). Abzalov is celebrated as one of the founders and prominent members of the Uzbek film making industry. During his lifetime, he received many honorary titles and awards, including the title Meritorious Artist of Uzbekistan (1987). Life and work Melis Oripovich Abzalov was born on November 18, 1938, in Yangiyul, then the Uzbek SSR. Uzbekfilm ( uz, Oʻzbekfilm, Ўзбекфильм; russian: Узбекфильм) is the largest and oldest film studio in Uzbekistan. It was established on July 1, 1925. The company was initially called Sharq Yulduzi (Eastern Star). In 1936, it was renamed to Uzbekfilm. During the Soviet-German war against Nazi Germany and its allies, the company was called Tashkent Film Studio. In 1958, it was renamed back to Uzbekfilm. Since its founding Uzbekfilm has produced about 400 feature films and 100 animated films.
