Perry Polk Keith, Sr. (October 20, 1847 – February 6, 1935), was a Planter (American South), planter, developer, and a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives who was the co-founder and namesake of the unincorporated community of Keithville, Louisiana, Keithville outside Shreveport, Louisiana, Shreveport in Caddo Parish, Louisiana, Caddo Parish in northwestern Louisiana. Forcht-Wade Correctional Center
Forcht-Wade Correctional Center was a state prison facility in unincorporated Caddo Parish, Louisiana. The prison, operated by the Louisiana Department of Public Safety & Corrections, was located in the Eddie D. Jones Nature Park in Keithville. The prison also controlled the Dr. Martin Forcht Jr. Clinical Treatment Unit, a facility located near Spring Ridge. History The Caddo Parish commission donated the site of Forcht-Wade to the State of Louisiana in 1977. The donation included some structures that existed on the site. The contract involved in the handover states that if the state does not use the facility within a two-year period, the Parish will receive the land back. Claude King
Claude King (February 5, 1923 – March 7, 2013) was an American country music singer and songwriter, best known for his million selling 1962 hit, "Wolverton Mountain". Biography King was born in Keithville in southern Caddo Parish south of Shreveport in northwestern Louisiana. At a young age, he was interested in music but also in athletics and the outdoors. He purchased a guitar at the age of twelve, and although he learned to play, most of his time was devoted to sports. He received a baseball scholarship to the University of Idaho at Moscow, Idaho. US 171
U.S. Highway 171 (US 171) is a part of the United States Numbered Highway System and the only route within that system currently located entirely within the state of Louisiana. It spans in a north–south direction from the junction of US 90 and Louisiana Highway 14 (LA 14) in Lake Charles to the junction of US 79/ US 80 and LA 3094 in Shreveport. As its designation indicates, US 171 is numbered as a spur of US 71, the principal north–south U.S. Highway through Shreveport, though they technically do not intersect. US 171 traverses six of the seven parishes along the Texas state line, the only exception being Cameron Parish located on the Gulf of Mexico south of Lake Charles.
