Keith Potger And The New Seekers
''Keith Potger and the New Seekers'' is a 1970 album by the UK-based pop group The New Seekers. It was the group's second album and their only one to feature the group's founder Keith Potger as a member. Overview By the time of the album's release in November 1970, a new line-up of the group was in place. Joining Eve Graham and Marty Kristian were new members Lyn Paul, Peter Doyle and Paul Layton, as well as Keith Potger himself. The group had by now made its UK chart debut, the single "What Have They Done to My Song Ma", produced by David Mackay, which having reached #44 in the UK charts and - re-entitled "Look What They've Done to My Song Ma" - had become a major hit in both North America (US #14/ Canada #2) - and Australia (#3). Keith Potger
Keith Leon Potger (born 21 March 1941) is an Australian musician. He is a founding members of the Australian folk-pop group the Seekers. He was born in Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) and is of Burgher descent. In 1969, Potger and his business partner David Joseph co-founded the contemporary English pop group the New Seekers. Potger also records and performs as a solo artist. In September 2014, along with his colleagues in the Seekers, Potger was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO). Early life Keith Potger was born on 21 March 1941 in Colombo, Ceylon (now Sri Lanka), to Justin Vere Potger (1914-1990) and Joan Frances Meier (1920-2004). His two brothers are Ralph and Nigel. Procession (band)
Procession were an Australian psychedelic pop, jazz band, formed in October 1967 by Craig Collinge on drums (ex-the Librettos (band), the Librettos, the Knack), Trevor Griffin on organ (ex-the Playboys), Brian Peacock on bass guitar and vocals (ex-the Librettos, the Playboys), Mick Rogers on lead guitar and lead vocals (ex-the Playboys). They relocated to London in mid-1968 and released a self-titled studio album in the following year. Australian singer-songwriter, Ross Wilson (musician), Ross Wilson took over on lead vocals in April 1969 but the group disbanded in September. John Cowan Hartford (December 30, 1937 – June 4, 2001) was an American folk, country, and bluegrass composer and musician known for his mastery of the fiddle and banjo, as well as for his witty lyrics, unique vocal style, and extensive knowledge of Mississippi River lore. "Gentle on My Mind" is a song that was written and originally recorded by John Hartford, and released on his second studio album, '' Earthwords & Music'' (1967). Hartford composed the song after watching ''Doctor Zhivago'' in 1966, as he was inspired by the film and his own personal experiences. The lyrics describe the reminiscences of lost love of a man as he travels through the country. The following year, Hartford released the song as a single on RCA Records. It then caught the attention of Glen Campbell, who recorded his cover version with a group of session musicians known as the Wrecking Crew.
