Keith P. Sommer
Keith P. Sommer (born September 6, 1946) is a Republican member of the Illinois House of Representatives since 1999. Sommer currently represents the 88th district which includes the cities of Morton, Washington, and Bloomington. Early life and career Sommer was born September 6, 1946, in Morton, Illinois. He earned a B.A. in government from the University of Virginia. Sommer previously served as a Tazewell County Board member from 1994 to 1998, Tazewell County Recorder of Deeds from 1984 to 1988, and a Morton Village Board member from 1977 to 1986. His brother Roger Sommer served in the Illinois Senate. Legislative career On July 31, 2017, Sommer was appointed a member of the Trade Policy Task Force for a term ending December 31, 2018. Jay Ackerman
John C. "Jay" Ackerman (November 23, 1933 – July 23, 2007) was an American farmer and politician. He served on the Morton Park Commission from 1967 to 1975. Ackerman also served on the Tazewell County Board from 1972 to 1978. Ackerman served in the Illinois House of Representatives from 1979 to 1983 and from 1987 to 1999. He was a Republican. Ackerman served on the Governor's Board of Agriculture Advisers from 1984 to 1987. Ackerman died in an accident on his farm in Morton, Illinois; when cutting grass on a sloping surface near a small lake on his farm, he and his lawn mower toppled over and pinned him in the water. The 2020 United States state legislative elections were held on November 3, 2020, for 86 state legislative chambers in 44 states. Pension spiking, sometimes referred to as "salary spiking", is the process whereby public sector employees are granted large raises, bonuses, incentives or otherwise artificially inflate their compensation in the time immediately preceding retirement in order to receive larger pensions than they otherwise would be entitled to receive. This artificially inflates the pension payments due to the retirees. Upon retirement any employee transitions from receiving a paycheck from the employer to a pension check drawn on the assets of the retirement fund; this amount is typically determined as a percentage of the employee's regular salary by state law or statute.
