Keith McErlean
Keith McErlean is an Irish actor. Born and raised in Carndonagh in Inishowen, County Donegal, in the Republic of Ireland, his career began when he graduated from the Gaiety School of Acting in June 1998. He has appeared in many plays for the Abbey Theatre and Peacock Theatre including ''Making History'', ''Lovers at Versailles'' and ''Tartuffe''. In 2004, he played Declan Breen in the film '' The Blackwater Lightship'' for CBS, adapted from Colm Tóibín's original novel. In 2006, he played Vernon Todmann in the movie ''Flyboys'' opposite James Franco and Jean Reno. He is best known as Barry in all three series of ''Bachelors Walk'' for RTÉ. From 2008 - 2013, he appeared in the RTÉ series ''Raw'' playing the character of Shane Harte, in which he was nominated for outstanding actor in a TV drama at the 49th Monte-Carlo Television Festival. Carndonagh
Carndonagh (; ) is a town on the Inishowen peninsula in County Donegal, Ireland, close to Trawbreaga Bay. It is the site of the Donagh Cross (or St. Patrick's Cross), believed to date to the 7th century. The Irish name, ''Carn Domhnach'', means "the cairn or mound of the church". Amenities The town is laid out around a central square, or Diamond, and is dominated by its Romanesque Revival Catholic chapel. It is home to 6 national schools including St. Patrick's GNS and BNS, Glentogher NS, Craigtown NS, Donagh NS, St. Bridget's NS and Carndonagh Community School, formerly the largest community school in the Republic of Ireland. ''RAW'' is an Irish drama television series which was broadcast on RTÉ. The show focuses on the staff at a Dublin restaurant. The first season featured six episodes shown on RTÉ Two in September 2008 and the second season of six episodes was shown on RTÉ One from 10 January 2010. The third season of six episodes was broadcast on RTÉ One from 9 January 2011. Season 4 was broadcast on RTÉ One from Sunday, 8 January 2012. ''The Blackwater Lightship'' is a 1999 novel written by Irish novelist Colm Tóibín. It was shortlisted for the Booker Prize. Tóibín conceived the book while traveling in Spain and, as he did not have access to a typewriter, bought a pen and notebook, which prompted his return to writing in Longhand. Plot summary The story is set in Dublin and County Wexford and described from the viewpoint of Helen, a successful school principal living with her husband and two children in Ireland. She learns one day, that her brother Declan, who is homosexual, has been ill with AIDS for years, and refused to tell her until then. He asks her to deliver their mother and grandmother the news. This presents a challenge to Helen as she has had minimal contact with the two women due to deeply buried conflicts relating to Helen's past and her father's sudden death when she was a child.
