Keith Kondo
Keith Kondo (born 5 November 1988) is a Zimbabwean cricketer. Career Kondo made his List A debut for Mashonaland against Matabeleland in the 2005–06 Inter-Provincial One-Day Competition, scoring seven runs batting at #7. He played three further games for Mashonaland in the 2005–06 season, including a bowling analysis of 3/15 against Midlands. Kondo made his first-class debut for Northerns in 2008 after the reorganisation of Zimbabwean cricket, making 30 and 8 runs after opening the batting in both innings. He played four further first-class matches for Northerns in the 2007–08 and 2008–09, mainly as an opener, as well as two List A matches. Harare
Harare (; formerly Salisbury ) is the capital and most populous city of Zimbabwe. Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Means of dismissal include being bowled, when the ball hits the stumps and dislodges the bails, and by the fielding side either catching the ball after it is hit by the bat, but before it hits the ground, or hitting a wicket with the ball before a batter can cross the crease in front of the wicket. Batting Average (cricket)
In cricket, a player's batting average is the total number of runs they have scored divided by the number of times they have been out, usually given to two decimal places. Since the number of runs a player scores and how often they get out are primarily measures of their own playing ability, and largely independent of their teammates, batting average is a good metric for an individual player's skill as a batter (although the practice of drawing comparisons between players on this basis is not without criticism). The number is also simple to interpret intuitively. If all the batter's innings were completed (i.e. they were out every innings), this is the average number of runs they score per innings. If they did not complete all their innings (i.e. some innings they finished not out), this number is an estimate of the unknown average number of runs they score per innings. Mountaineers Cricket Team
The Mountaineers is one of five cricket Zimbabwean cricket franchises. They are a first-class cricket team, based in the Manicaland and Mashonaland East area. They play their home matches at Mutare Sports Club in Mutare. Franchise History Following the decline of the standards of cricket in Zimbabwe, Zimbabwe Cricket decided to use a new set of teams for all the first-class, List A and Twenty20 formats of the domestic game. A total of 5 franchises were named, and the Mountaineers team was based in Manicaland. 2009-10 Logan Cup On their debut in this tournament, Mountaineers finished in third place in the group, with three wins from twelve games. Their debut first-class match against Mashonaland Eagles was a draw, thanks mainly to captain Hamilton Masakadza's century. Mutare Sports Club
Mutare Sports Club is a cricket ground in Mutare, Manicaland Province, Zimbabwe. It is located just to the south-east of the city centre, next to Main Park. It has been the home ground of the Mountaineers, one of Zimbabwe's first-class cricket franchises, since they were formed in 2009. Prior to the reorganisation of Zimbabwean cricket, it was the home ground of the Manicaland team. The ground was originally called the Umtali Sports Club, before Umtali was renamed as Mutare in 1982. The first List A cricket match at the ground took place in March 1984, when Zimbabwe played the touring Young India team. The first first-class match took place in March 2000 when Manicaland played Mashonaland in the Logan Cup. The ground and its facilities for players and spectators were upgraded in 2010. Opening Batsman
In cricket, the batting order is the sequence in which batters play through their team's innings, there always being two batters taking part at any one time. All eleven players in a team are required to bat if the innings is completed (i.e., if the innings does not close early due to a declaration or other factor).
