Keim Homestead
The Keim Homestead is a historic farm on Boyer Road in Pike Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania. It was built in 1753 for Jacob Keim and his wife Magdalena Hoch on land given to the couple by her father. Jacob was the son of Johannes Keim, who immigrated from Germany in 1689 and scouted the Pennsylvania countryside for land that was similar in richness to the soil from the Black Forest of Germany. He thought he found it and returned to Germany, married his wife, Katarina. They came to America in 1707. Keim originally built a log structure for his family's housing and later a stone home along Keim Road in Pike Township. Pike Township is a township in Berks County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,723 at the 2010 census. History Pike Township was created in August 1813 from sections of District, Rockland, Oley, and Earl townships.Morton L. Muhlenberg Township (pronounced "MYOO-len-burg") is a township in Berks County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 21,915 at the 2020 census, making it the third most populous township in Berks County after Spring Township and Exeter Township. Hartman Cider Press
The Hartman Cider Press is an historic cider press which is located in Pike Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988. History and architectural features The cider press and one-story, plain, wood-frame building sits on a stone foundation, and was built circa 1835. The building measures thirty-five feet by fifteen feet, and has a gable roof. The cider press had been in the Hartman family for five generations. It was donated by Edward Hartman and John Hartman to the American Folklore Society of Oley in March 1975.
