Kei Toume
is a Japanese mangaka, manga artist. Kei Toume studied at the Tama Art University in Tokyo. Her first manga, ''Rokujō gekijō'', was published in Comic Burger magazine in 1992. The manga won her the Shiki prize in a contest held by Kodansha in 1993. A year later, her follow-up manga ''Mannequin'' also won a prize. She started the series ''Lament of the Lamb'' in Comic Burger in 1996. After the disappearance of this magazine, the manga was continued in ''Comic Birz''. This series ran for six years and was adapted into a radio play, an anime and a live action film. In 1997, she began ''Sing "Yesterday" for Me'' manga. In addition, Toume contributes to a lot of fanzines and specialized magazines, and is also active in video games and films. Her manga ''Kurogane'' and ''Lament of the Lamb'' have been translated into English by Del Rey Manga and Tokyopop respectively. Lament Of The Lamb
, alternatively titled ''The Lament of a Lamb'' or ''Sheep's Song'', is a Japanese horror manga series written and illustrated by Kei Toume. It follows Kazuna, a boy with a mysterious illness which turns out to be vampirism. It was adapted into a live action film in 2002 directed by Junji Hanado, a three-part Drama CD in 2002-03, and an anime OVA series in 2003–04. The manga was licensed in North America by Tokyopop, and in Russia by Comics Factory. Story The story centers on Kazuna, an "average high school student" who starts to lose control at the sight of blood, or even just a blood red colour (as seen in volume one when Yaegashi shows him a bottle of red paint). Kurogane (manga)
, also known as ''Black Steel'', is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Kei Toume. It ran from 1996 to 2001, and consists 5 volumes and 14 chapters (which are further separated into episodes). It was released in America from June 2006 to June 2007. A sequel, ''Kurogane-kai'', was serialized in Shueisha's '' Grand Jump'' from 2016 to 2020. Plot summary Kurogane tells the tale of " Hitokiri Jintetsu", a boy just in his teens who has become renowned for his swordsmanship and his proficiency in killing, despite his young age. After getting revenge on his father's murderer, Jintetsu is forced to constantly flee from bounty hunters who wish to collect the price on his head. Despite the skill of these killers, none are capable of besting him in combat, and he's consistently victorious. The deaths that lay in wake earn him the "Hitokiri" moniker. Del Rey Manga was the manga-publishing imprint of Del Rey Books, a branch of Ballantine Books, which in turn is part of Random House, the publishing division of Bertelsmann.
