Kefalas
Kefalas ( el, Κεφαλάς) is a village and a community on the island of Crete, Greece, 282m above sea level. It is in the Vamos municipal unit in the Apokoronas municipality. The community consists of the villages Kefalas, Drapanos and Palailoni. Overview Kefalas owes its name to the first residents there, called the Kephalades, the leaders of the Byzantine settlers sent to Crete in 1182. It is about five minutes by car from the village of Vamos itself and about 10 minutes to Almyrida beach on the northwest coast of the island. The village is on the northeast edge of the Drapanos peninsula, built facing the sea. Eight churches can be found here. (Local residents talk of up to 25 churches in total, many of which are hidden in private gardens.) There are views from Kefalas to the Bay of Georgioupolis and the Cretan White Mountains. Drapanos
Drapanos is a small, traditional village which is slowly growing, it is high up on Cape Drapano, on the Greek island of Crete in Chania regional unit. It is in the Apokoronas region, and part of the community Kefalas. The village has two tavernas and a small grocery store. Drapanos has mail delivery and is on the Chania bus route (ΚΤΕL). Vamos
Vamos (Greek: Βάμος) is a small town and former municipality in the Chania regional unit, Crete, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform "Kallikratis" it is a municipal unit, part of the municipality of Apokoronas, serving as its historical capital. It is situated on a small hill at an altitude of above sea level, about from Chania. In Vamos, one can find several restaurants, snack bars and shops in the village, as well as many public services, such as a fully equipped health center, schools, police station and the regional court for the regions of Apokoronas and Sfakia. Apokoronas ( el, Αποκόρωνας) is a municipality and a former province (επαρχία) in the Chania regional unit, north-west Crete, Greece. Georgioupoli ( el, Γεωργιούπολη) is a resort village and former municipality in the Chania regional unit, Crete, Greece. Cretan White Mountains
Lefka Ori ( el, Λευκά Όρη, meaning 'White Mountains') or Madares ( from the Cretan Greek meaning 'without coverage, bald, bare of any vegetation for high mountain areas') is a mountain range located in Western Crete, in the Chania prefecture. The White Mountains or Lefka Ori occupy a large part of the centre of West Crete and are the main feature of the region. They consist mainly of limestone, from light grey to bluish or black color.
