Keane (band)
Keane are an English alternative rock band from East Sussex, formed in 1995. They met while at Tonbridge School together. The band currently comprises Tom Chaplin (lead vocals, electric/acoustic guitar, piano), Tim Rice-Oxley (piano, synthesisers, bass guitar, backing vocals), Richard Hughes (drums, percussion, backing vocals), and Jesse Quin (bass guitar, acoustic/electric guitar, backing vocals). Their original line-up included founder and guitarist Dominic Scott, who left in 2001. Keane achieved mainstream international success with the release of their debut album '' Hopes and Fears'' in 2004. Topping the UK charts, the album won the 2005 Brit Award for Best British Album and was the UK's second best-selling album of 2004. It is one of the best-selling albums in UK chart history. Battle is a small town and civil parish in the local government district of Rother in East Sussex, England. It lies south-east of London, east of Brighton and east of Lewes. ''The Best of Keane'' is the first official compilation album by British group Keane. It was released on 11 November 2013 through Island Records. The album contains all of the singles from the band's first four studio albums, ''Hopes and Fears'', ''Under the Iron Sea'', '' Perfect Symmetry'' and '' Strangeland'' (with the exception of "The Lovers Are Losing" and "Better Than This", which are replaced by "My Shadow" from the '' Night Train'' EP and "Hamburg Song" from ''Under the Iron Sea''), plus two new songs: "Higher Than the Sun" and "Won't Be Broken", written during the ''Strangeland'' era. The Official Albums Chart is a list of albums ranked by physical and digital sales and (from March 2015) audio streaming in the United Kingdom. It was published for the first time on 22 July 1956 and is compiled every week by the Official Charts Company (OCC) on Fridays (previously Sundays). It is broadcast on BBC Radio 1 (top 5) and found on the OCC website as a Top 100 or on UKChartsPlus as a Top 200, with positions continuing until all sales have been tracked in data only available to industry insiders. However, even though number 100 was classed as a hit album (as in the case of The Guinness Book of British Hit Albums) in the 1980s until January 1989, since the compilations were removed this definition was changed to Top 75 with follow-up books such as The Virgin Book of British Hit Albums book only including this data. ''Strangeland'' is the fourth studio album by English alternative rock band Keane (band), Keane, released on 4 May 2012 through Island Records. It is their first full-length album since ''Perfect Symmetry (Keane album), Perfect Symmetry'' (2008), as well as the first to feature bassist Jesse Quin as an official member. Two singles were released preceding the album's release: "Silenced by the Night" and "Disconnected (Keane song), Disconnected". The former was released internationally on 13 March 2012, while the latter was released on 27 April 2012.
