Kazimierz Krukowski
Kazimierz Krukowski (born 2 February 1901 in Łódź — died 24 December 1984 in Warsaw), professionally known as Lopek, was a Polish cabaret performer and writer, revue and film actor. Career He performed songs and monologues by famous poets and songwriters including Marian Hemar, Jerzy Jurandot, Antoni Słonimski, Julian Tuwim and Andrzej Włast. He made his first movie in 1927 (''Ziemia obiecana'') as part of a comedy duo, "Lopek and Florek," with Adolf Dymsza; they made several more movies together including ''Janko Muzykant; Ułani, ułani, chłopcy malowani,'' and '' Co mój mąż robi w nocy? (What does my husband do at night?)'' In 1935 he starred in the film '' ABC miłości''. He was engaged at the cabaret Qui Pro Quo by his cousin Julian Tuwim. Henryk Gold (19029 January 1977 in New York City, United States) was a Polish-born American composer, arranger, and orchestra director. He was born in Warsaw to a musical family: his mother Helena was of the famous Warsaw klezmer Melodysta family, and his father Michael was a flautist in the Warsaw Opera Orchestra. He was the brother of Artur Gold. He studied in Warsaw, his teachers including Stanisław Barcewicz (violin). When silent movies in Poland lost popularity following the arrival of Al Jolson's ''The Jazz Singer'', (known in Yiddish as ''The Singing Buffoon''), thousands of Polish musicians who'd played in the movie theaters lost their livelihood; they began to create large and small orchestras playing dance music and jazz. Szymon Kataszek
Szymon Kataszek (1898–1943) (born Boruch Szymon Kataszek), was a Polish-Jewish composer, bandleader, pianist, a pioneer of Polish jazz. Born in Warsaw 1898; studied piano at the Warsaw Music Institute and Rome's St. Cecilia Academy. He returned to Poland and first worked as an organist in St. Trinity Church, while also playing piano in nightclubs. Life and work In 1920 he joined the Polish Army and fought in the Polish-Bolshevik War. In 1921 he played in dance orchestras in Gdańsk and Berlin, then returned to Warsaw and established a jazz quintet with his friend Zygmunt Karasiński; they played at the nightclub ''Oaza''.
