Kawempe General Hospital, also known as Kawempe Specialised National Referral Hospital, is a hospital in Uganda. It is an urban, specialised hospital built between 2014 and 2016 at an estimated cost of US$11.3 million (about UGX:40.6 billion). The hospital was constructed by the government of Uganda, with funding from the African Development Bank and the Nigeria Trust Fund. Location The hospital is in Kawempe Division, one of the five administrative units of the Kampala Capital City Authority. Dr Lawrence Kazibwe is a consultant obstetrician and gynecologist in the Uganda Ministry of Health. He is the deputy executive director of Kawempe General Hospital, in Kawempe Division, in northern Kampala, the capital and largest of Uganda. He was appointed to that position on 9th August 2018. Background and education He was born in the Buganda Region of Uganda. After attending local schools, he enrolled into the Mbarara University of Science and Technology to study human medicine, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) degree in 2006.
