Kaushik Banerjee
Kaushik Banerjee ( bn, কৌশিক ব্যানার্জী) is an Indian actor who is known for his work in Bengali cinema. He has appeared in more than a 100 films throughout his career of four decades. Born to the ace actor Haradhan Bannerjee, he made his acting debut opposite Mahua Roychoudhury in Dinen Gupta's Bengali romantic film ''Priyatama'' (1980). He claimed to fame for his lascivious role as Devendra in Ajoy Kar's ''Bishabriksha'' (1984) which is based on the novel of the same name by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee. Since his role as Devendra was much celebrated, he has often been typecast in salacious, negative roles in a number of Bengali films. He collaborated with Aparna Sen in ''Paromitar Ek Din'' (2000), Rituparno Ghosh in ''Shubho Mahurat'' (2003) and '' Chitrangada: The Crowning Wish'' (2012). ''Dadar Kirti'' ( bn, দাদার কীর্তি; ) is a 1980 Bengali romantic drama film directed by Tarun Majumdar. The film was based on an unpublished novel of the same name by Saradindu Bandopadhyay. It stars Tapas Paul, Mahua Roychoudhury, Ayan Banerjee, Debashree Roy, Sandhya Roy, Kali Banerjee, Ruma Guha Thakurta and Anup Kumar. Tapas Paul made his debut with this film. The film attained a huge box office success upon its release and still has a popular following. Rituparno Ghosh
Rituparno Ghosh (31 August 1963 – 30 May 2013) was an Indian film director, actor, writer and lyricist. After pursuing a degree in economics, he started his career as a creative artist at an advertising agency. He received recognition for his second feature film ''Unishe April'' which won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film. Having won 19 National Awards, along with his contemporaries Aparna Sen and Goutam Ghose, Rituparno heralded contemporary Cinema of West Bengal, Bengali cinema to greater heights. Ghosh died on 30 May 2013 in Kolkata after a heart attack. Ghosh was also one of the openly homosexual personalities in Indian cinema. Ghosh was influenced by the works of Satyajit Ray and was an avid reader of Rabindranath Tagore. Tagore's works are frequently referenced to in his films. ''Kaalpurush'' or ''Kalpurush'' (English name: Memories in the Mist) is a 2005 Indian Bengali drama film directed and written by Buddhadev Dasgupta. The film stars Mithun Chakraborty and Rahul Bose in lead roles. The 120 minute version of the film screened at the Toronto International Film Festival. Although the film was completed in 2005, it was released in India in 2008. Draupadi ( sa, द्रौपदी, draupadī, Daughter of Drupada), also referred to as Krishnaa, Panchali, and Yagyaseni, is the main female protagonist of the Hindu epic ''Mahabharata,'' and the common consort of the five Pandava brothers—Yudhishthira, Bhima, Arjuna, Nakula, and Sahadeva.
