Katrin Jäke (born c. 1975) is a retired German butterfly swimmer who won three silver medals at the 1993 European Aquatics Championships and 2000 FINA World Swimming Championships (25 m). Between 1990 and 1999 she won 12 national titles in butterfly events. LEN European Aquatics Championships
The European Aquatics Championships is the continental Aquatics championship for Europe, which is organised by LEN—the governing body for aquatics in Europe. The Championships are currently held every two years (in even years); and since 2022, they have included 5 aquatics disciplines: Swimming (long course/50m pool), Diving, Synchronised swimming, Open water swimming and High diving. Prior to 1999, the championships also included Water polo, which beginning in 1999 LEN split-off into a separate championships. The open water events are not held during the Olympic year. The Championships are generally held over a two-week time-period in mid-to-late Summer; however, in the most recent Summer Olympics years (2004, 2008, 2012, 2016 and 2020), the Championships were moved to the Spring to be moved away from the Summer Olympic Games. 1993 European Aquatics Championships
The 1993 European Aquatics Championships were held in Sheffield, United Kingdom from Tuesday 3 August to Sunday 8 August, in the 50 m pool of the Ponds Forge International Sports Centre. The 21st edition of the event was organised by the Ligue Européenne de Natation, LEN. Besides swimming there were titles contested in open water swimming, diving (sport), diving, synchronised swimming (women) and water polo. The open water competition though was held in Slapy (Prague-West District), Slapy, Czech Republic from 28 to 29 August, while the women's water polo tournament was played in Leeds. FINA World Swimming Championships (25 M)
The FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) or "Short Course Worlds" as they are sometimes known, is an international swimming competition. It is swum in a short course (25m) pool, and has been held in the years when FINA has not held its long course World Aquatics Championships (currently this means in even years). Unlike the FINA World Aquatics Championships, this championship is swimming-only (the World Championships feature all 5 Aquatics disciplines), and is contested in a short course, 25-meter pool (rather than a long course, 50-meter pool).
