Katimavik Road
Katimavik ( iu, ᑲᑎᒪᕕᒃ "meeting place") is a registered charity that engages Canadian youth through volunteer work. Katimavik provides opportunities for young Canadians to participate in five to six-month periods of community service throughout the country via the National Experience program. It was founded in 1977 by the late Senator Jacques Hébert and the Honourable Barney Danson, a former Minister of National Defence. Currently, Katimavik is led by John-Frederick Cameron, an experienced executive in the Canadian non-profit sector. Overview The Katimavik National Experience consists of groups of 11 youths, aged 17 to 25, who come from across Canada. Canadian Cadet Organizations
The Canadian Cadet Organizations, marketed under the name of Cadets Canada, are a youth program known as the Royal Canadian Sea Cadets, Royal Canadian Army Cadets, and Royal Canadian Air Cadets. Service Canada Centres For Youth
Previously the Human Resources & Career Centre for Students and the Hire-a-Student program, the Service Canada Centres for Youth (SCCY) were centres, set up by the Government of Canada as part of itYouth Employment Strategy by which it helped students and employers across Canada with their summer employment needs. Due to declining attendance, the Federal Government permanently closed these centres in 2012. In 1968, the first Hire-A-Student office was erected as a pilot project within a Canada Employment Centre (CECs) in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. The Federal Government supported the idea and in 1971, provided funds to establish Hire-A-Student offices in separate premises. The chief function, under supervision from the parent CEC, was to serve as a referral and placement service for students and employers.
