Katie Rainsberger
Katherine (Katie) Rainsberger (born August 18, 1998) is an American long distance runner from Colorado. Her mother is former distance star Lisa Larsen (Weidenbach) Rainsberger. She was also a swimmer who qualified for the Olympic team trials in 1980, though the U.S. boycotted the games. Lisa was a top-ranked long distance runner during most of the 1980s. She won the Boston Marathon in 1985, the last American woman to do so until Desiree Linden's win in 2018. Katie's father, Ellis, played football at Kansas State University. Track and field is a sport that includes athletic contests based on running, jumping, and throwing skills. The name is derived from where the sport takes place, a running track and a grass field for the throwing and some of the jumping events. Track and field is categorized under the umbrella sport of athletics, which also includes road running, cross country running and racewalking. The foot racing events, which include sprints, middle- and long-distance events, racewalking, and hurdling, are won by the athlete who completes it in the least time. The jumping and throwing events are won by those who achieve the greatest distance or height. Katelyn Tuohy (born March 18, 2002) is an American middle- and long-distance runner. She is a four-time NCAA champion (3000 meters, 5000 meters outdoor and indoor, and cross country). By the 2019 cross country season, Tuohy had won five Gatorade Player of the Year awards and was the 2018 ''Track & Field News'' High School Girls Athlete Of The Year.
