Kathleen Mavourneen (1919 Film)
''Kathleen Mavourneen'' is a lost 1919 American silent drama film directed by Charles J. Brabin and starring his wife Theda Bara. It was produced and distributed by Fox Film Corporation. A much filmed story based on the poem, Kathleen Mavourneen, by Annie Crawford and play by Dion Boucicault. Plot As described in a film magazine, Kathleen (Bara) and Terence (McKee), Irish peasants, plan their wedding in anticipation of a lifetime of happiness. Their dreams are broken by the Squire of Traise (McDermott), attracted by Kathleen's beauty, and a forced marriage to him is the result. A while later the Squire meets Lady Clancarthy (Harris), who possesses vast estates and funds, and is convinced that he can win her if he was free of Kathleen. He lures Kathleen to a lonely spot in the woods and leaves her. After being deserted by her husband, she is set upon by ruffians, and rescued only by the timely arrival of Terence, who kills one of her assailants. Terence is tried and found guilty, ... Charles Brabin
Charles Brabin (April 17, 1882 – November 3, 1957) was a British-American film director. Biography Born in Liverpool, England, he was educated at St. Francis Xavier College. Brabin sailed to New York City in the early 1900s and, while holding down odd jobs there, he tried his hand as a stage actor. He joined the Edison Manufacturing Company around 1908, first acting, later writing and directing. He was active during the silent era, then pursued a short-lived career in talkies. His last film was ''A Wicked Woman'' for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer in 1934. Brabin married his first wife socialite Suzan "Susette" Jeanette Mosher, the daughter of Edwin Howard Mosher and Jennie Slater Mosher of New York City. They wed December 14, 1913, at Bedford Congregational Church in the Bronx, shortly after Brabin returned from a trip to England and Europe. Marcia Harris (born Lena Hill, February 14, 1868 – June 18, 1947) was an American actress. She appeared in 48 films between 1915 and 1932. She was born in Providence, Rhode Island, and as an amateur acted primarily in male lead roles with the Chelsea Club theatrical organization in Boston. Harris's Broadway credits included ''The Adding Machine'' (1923), ''What Happened to Jones'' (1917), ''Rich Man, Poor Man'' (1916), and ''All Aboard'' (1913. Her other work on stage included the musical production ''Alma, Where Do You Live?'' (1911). Harris died in Northampton, Massachusetts.
