Katharina Schulze
Katharina Elisabeth Schulze (born 20 June 1985) is a German politician of Alliance 90/The Greens who has been serving as a member of the State Parliament of Bavaria (''Landtag'') since 2013. Along with Ludwig Hartmann, she was one of the two leading candidates of her party in the 2018 Bavarian state election. Since 2019, she has been part of her party's national leadership, under co-chairs Annalena Baerbock and Robert Habeck. Early life and education Schulze was born in Freiburg and grew up in Herrsching am Ammersee. Ahead of the 2008 United States presidential election, she was a volunteer for the campaign of the Democratic Party's candidate Barack Obama in Michigan. Political career From 2010 to 2015, Schulze served as chairwoman of the Green Party in Munich. Alliance 90/The Greens (german: Bündnis 90/Die Grünen, ), often simply referred to as the Greens ( ), is a Green politics, green List of political parties in Germany, political party in Germany. It was formed in 1993 as the merger of The Greens (formed in West Germany in 1980) and Alliance 90 (formed in East Germany in 1990). The Abendzeitung (''"Evening Paper"''), sometimes abbreviated to AZ, is a liberal morning tabloid newspaper from Munich, Germany. A localized edition is published in Nuremberg. The paper is published six days a week; the masthead of the Saturday edition is held in light blue. History ''AZ'' was founded by Werner Friedmann on 16 June 1948 as a street selling newspaper. Danyal Bayaz (born 15 October 1983) is a German politician of Alliance 90/The Greens who has been serving as State Minister of Finance in the government of Minister-President of Baden-Württemberg Winfried Kretschmann since May 2021. Upper Bavaria (german: Oberbayern, ; ) is one of the seven administrative districts of Bavaria, Germany. 2013 Bavarian State Election
The 2013 Bavarian state election was held on 15 September 2013 to elect the 180 members of the 17th Landtag of Bavaria. It was held one week before the 2013 German federal election. The CSU regained the absolute majority it had lost in 2008, while the Free Democratic Party (FDP), a member of the outgoing governing coalition, fell below the 5% electoral threshold and lost all its seats. Minister-President Horst Seehofer continued in office. This election was the last election in which a party got an absolute majority in a state parliament until the 2022 Saarland state election. The CSU previously held an absolute majority, and therefore governed alone, from 1966 to 2008 and again from 2013 to 2018. Previously, even in the late 1990s, it was common that either the CDU/CSU or the SPD got an absolute majority in a state election.
