Katharina Schiller
Katharina Schiller (born 22 June 1984 in Hildesheim) is a German swimmer, who specialized in freestyle and individual medley events. Schiller won a bronze medal, as a member of the German swimming team, at the 2007 Summer Universiade in Bangkok, Thailand with a final time of 3:42.68. Schiller is a member of the swimming team for VfV Hildesheim, and is coached and trained by Jacqueline Zenner. She is also a graduate of mathematics and sports science at the University of Hildesheim. Schiller qualified for two swimming events at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, by finishing ahead of Sonja Schöber in the 200 m individual medley from the German Olympic trials, in a FINA A-standard entry time of 2:13.47. Freestyle Swimming
Freestyle is a category of swimming competition, defined by the rules of the International Swimming Federation (FINA), in which competitors are subject to a few limited restrictions on their swimming stroke. Freestyle races are the most common of all swimming competitions, with distances beginning with 50 meters (50 yards) and reaching 1500 meters (1650 yards), also known as the mile. The term 'freestyle stroke' is sometimes used as a synonym for 'front crawl', as front crawl is the fastest surface swimming stroke. It is now the most common stroke used in freestyle competitions.
