Kathara Area
Kathara Area is one of the operational areas of the Central Coalfields Limited located mainly in the Bokaro district in the state of Jharkhand, India. The projects of the Kathara Area are: Kathara open cast, Jarangdih open cast, Jarangdih underground, Sawang open cast/ underground, Govindpur underground, Kathara Washery, Swang Washery. The area office is at Kathara, PO Kathara 829116. Mining activity Mines and projects Kathara colliery is a running mine, started in 1944 by Anderson Wright and Company. Kathara opencast project has been cleared in 2014 for 1.9 million tonnes per year. Kathara opencast expansion project was cleared in 2014 for 0.9 million tonnes per year (normative} and 1.9 million tonnes per year (peak). New Kathara Coking Coal Washery is a proposed project with linkages with Govindpur Ph II, Jagrandih OCP and Kathara Colliery. East Bokaro Coalfield
East Bokaro Coalfield is located in Bokaro district in the Indian state of Jharkhand. Overview In 1917, L.S.S. O’Malley described the coalfields in the upper reaches of the Damodar as follows: “Near the western boundary of Jharia field is that of Bokaro, covering , with an estimated content of 1,500 million tons; close by… is the Ramgarh field , in which, however, coal is believed to be of inferior quality. Bokaro Steel City
Bokaro, officially known as Bokaro Steel City () is a planned city in Jharkhand, India. It is fourth largest and most populous city in the state. It is one of the planned cities of India. Bokaro is the administrative headquarters of Bokaro district. The city is located on the banks of Garga River and on the fringes of Bokaro river and is surrounded by hill ranges at Giridih and Ramgarh districts. It is one of the most peaceful cities in India. As per 2011 census, the city's population was 563,417 and 1,100,000 of its metropolitan area. The city span across 183 km in geographic area. Chas is a Municipal Corporation in the Chas subdivision of the Bokaro district in the state of Jharkhand, India. It is often referred to as a suburb of Bokaro Steel City, though it predates the steel plant. Chas is one of the fastest-growing urban regions in Jharkhand and was ranked as the cleanest locality of Eastern India and the 19th cleanest locality of India in 2018, according to Swachh Survekshan.
