Katelynn Flaherty
Katelynn Christine Flaherty (born February 15, 1996) is a former American basketball player. She played college basketball for the Michigan Wolverines, where she is Michigan's all-time leading scorer in points, man or woman, with 2,776 career points, field goals made, three-point field goals made, double-figure scoring games and 30-point games. Playing career High school career Flaherty began her basketball career at Manasquan High School. As a freshman at Manasquan, she scored 579 points for an average of 22.3 points per game. As a sophomore at Manasquan, she scored 673 points and averaged 21 points per game and helped lead her team to a No. 1 ranking in the state, a 32–2 record and the Tournament of Champions championship, a tournament between the winners of each high school division in New Jersey. The point guard (PG), also called the one or the point, is one of the five Basketball positions, positions in a regulation basketball game. A point guard has perhaps the most specialized role of any position. Glen Rice
Glen Anthony Rice Sr. (born May 28, 1967) is an American former professional basketball player who played in the National Basketball Association (NBA). As a small forward, Rice was a three-time NBA All-Star and made 1,559 three-point field goals during his 15-year career. Rice won both an NCAA championship and NBA championship during his collegiate and professional career. In recent years, Rice has taken up mixed martial arts fight promotion as owner of G-Force Fights based in Miami, Florida. Diane Dietz
Diane Dietz is a former All-American basketball player. She played for the University of Michigan from 1979 to 1982 and is the school's second all-time scoring leader with 2,076 points. She also set the Big Ten Conference single-game scoring record with 45 points in 1982. In 1996, Dietz became the first women's basketball player inducted into the University of Michigan Athletic Hall of Honor. And in 2009, she was inducted into the Academic All-America Hall of Fame. Basketball player Diane Dietz began her basketball career at Farmington Hills Mercy High School. Women's National Invitation Tournament
The Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT) is a women's national college basketball tournament with a preseason and postseason version played every year. It is operated in a similar fashion to the men's college National Invitation Tournament (NIT) and NIT Season Tip-Off. Unlike the NIT, the women's tournament is not run by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), but is an independent national championship. Triple Crown Sports, a company based in Fort Collins, Colorado that specializes in the promotion of amateur sporting events, created the WNIT in 1994 as a preseason counterpart to the then-current National Women's Invitational Tournament (NWIT). 2017 Women's National Invitation Tournament
The 2017 Women's National Invitation Tournament was an annual single-elimination tournament of 64 NCAA Division I teams that were not selected to participate in the 2017 Women's NCAA tournament. The tournament committee announced the 64-team field on March 13, following the selection of the NCAA Tournament field. The tournament began on March 15 and ended on April 1, with the championship game televised on the CBS Sports Network. In the championship game, the Michigan Wolverines defeated the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, 89–79, in triple overtime.
