Kate Swaffer
Kate Swaffer (born 1958) is an Australian civil rights campaigner, and activist for the rights of people with dementia and older persons globally, and for dementia to be managed as a disability. This is to enable equal access to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), of people with dementia who are people with acquired disabilities. She was awarded Australian of the Year for South Australia in 2017, and was announced the 2018 Global Leader of the 100 Women of Influence in Australia. Early life Swaffer was born in a farming community on Eyre Peninsula in 1958. She is married, and has two adult sons. Her first career was nursing, having worked in dementia and aged care and then operating theatres; she is also a retired chef having run her own hospitality businesses for ten years. Urban Myth Theatre Company, formerly named Unley Youth Theatre and then Urban Myth Theatre of Youth, was a youth theatre company in Adelaide, South Australia. It was often referred to as simply Urban Myth. History Unley Youth Theatre was founded by theatre director Brigid Kitchin in the Adelaide suburb of Unley, South Australia, Unley in 1981. With support from City of Unley, Unley Council, the theatre operated from the "Cottage" on Edmund Avenue, for 31 years. Sometime before 2009, it changed its name to Urban Myth Theatre of Youth. The company catered for children and young people between the ages of 5 and 26, and was Adelaide's only not-for-profit youth theatre company. Kelly Leah Vincent (born 25 October 1988) is an Australian playwright, actress and former politician. She was elected at the 2010 state election for the Dignity Party to the eleventh and last seat for an eight-year term in the 22-member Legislative Council in the Parliament of South Australia. Vincent has cerebral palsy and attended parliament in a wheelchair. Cheong Liew
Cheong Liew (born 1949) is a Malaysian-born Australian chef. He moved from Malaysia to Australia in 1969 to study electrical engineering, but instead became a chef. Early life Cheong Liew was born in 1949 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. His father was a farmer who also owned several restaurants. Following the 13 May incident, Liew's family emigrated to Adelaide, South Australia. In Adelaide, Liew's passion for cooking was ignited while he tended the grill part-time at the Greek restaurant Iliad in Whitmore Square. Although he had planned to study electrical engineering in Melbourne, he eventually decided to become a self-taught chef. Career In 1975, Liew opened his own restaurant ''Neddy's'', whose menu consisted of mostly Malaysian and Chinese dishes. The World Health Assembly (WHA) is the forum through which the World Health Organization (WHO) is governed by its 194 member states.
