Kasuga, Fukuoka
is a city located in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. As of August 31, 2016, the city has an estimated population of 112,894 and a population density of 7,978.37 persons per km². The total area is 14.15 km². The city was founded on April 1, 1972. It is directly south of Fukuoka City, and west of Onojo. It also has a border with Nakagawa. Kasuga station is on the JR Kagoshima Main Line, while Kasugabaru Station is on the Nishitetsu Tenjin Ōmuta Line. The Hakata-Minami Line also terminates here. The Japan Air Self-Defense Force has its western regional headquarters here, namely the Kasuga Air Base. There is a Seiyu mall, and several large parks. Kasuga Park has a baseball stadium, a football stadium, tennis courts, and a children's playground with a large jungle gym. Lady Kasuga
was a Japanese noble lady and politician from a prominent Japanese samurai family of the Azuchi–Momoyama and Edo periods. Born Saitō Fuku (斉藤福), she was a daughter of Saitō Toshimitsu (who was a retainer of Akechi Mitsuhide). She was the wet nurse of the third Tokugawa shōgun Iemitsu. Lady Kasuga was one of the best politicians in the Edo period. She stood in front of negotiations with the Imperial Court and contributed to the stabilization of the Tokugawa Shogunate. Kasuga was one of the most powerful figures in the Ōoku (the quarters in Edo Castle where the women related to the Shogun family resided) . She is counted alongside Matsudaira Nobutsuna and Yagyu Muneyori as one of the Three Tripod Legs, who supported and propped up Iemitsu. Tōrō
are a type of traditional East Asian lantern made of stone, wood, or metal. Originating in China, stone lanterns spread to Japan, Korea and Vietnam, though they are most commonly found in both China – extant in Buddhist temples and traditional Chinese gardens – and Japan. In Japan, were originally used only in Buddhist temples, where they lined and illuminated paths. Lit lanterns were then considered an offering to Buddha. Their use in Shinto shrines and also private homes started during the Heian period (794–1185). Shōjirō Kasuga
was a Japanese communist activist. He was a member of the Central Committee of the Japan Communist Party (JCP) from 1945 to 1961. In the postwar period, he emerged as the leader of the party's "anti-mainstream" faction that battled with Kenji Miyamoto over party policy. Early life Kasuga was born in Osaka on March 25, 1903. After dropping out of Ritsumeikan Junior High School he moved to Tokyo and began working as a printer. In 1923, he founded the Kantō Printers Labor Union. After studying abroad in Moscow, he joined the Japan Communist Party in 1927, only to be arrested in 1928 as part of the March 15 Incident. Sentenced to 10 years in prison, he was released in 1937 without undergoing forced ideological conversion (''tenkō''). On December 5, he formed the "Japanese Communist Association."
