Kashkadarya Province
Qashqadaryo Region ( uz, Qashqadaryo viloyati, Қашқадарё вилояти, قەشقەدەريا ۋىلايەتى; old spelling ''Kashkadarya Region'', russian: Кашкадарьинская область) is one of the regions of Uzbekistan, located in the south-eastern part of the country in the basin of the river Qashqadaryo and on the western slopes of the Pamir-Alay mountains. It borders with Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Samarqand Region, Bukhara Region and Surxondaryo Region. It covers an area of 28,570 km2. The population is estimated 3,408,345 (2022), with 57% living in rural areas. The regional capital is Qarshi (278,300 inhabitants). Administrative divisions The Qashqadaryo Region consists of 13 districts (listed below) and two district-level cities: Qarshi and Shahrisabz. Shahrisabz
Shakhrisabz ( uz, Шаҳрисабз ; tg, Шаҳрисабз; fa, شهر سبز, shahr-e sabz: "city of green" / "verdant city"; russian: Шахрисабз) is a district-level city in Qashqadaryo Region in southern Uzbekistan. The Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) has selected Shakhrisabz as its tourism capital for 2024. It is located approximately 80 km south of Samarkand, at an altitude of 622 m. Gʻuzor
Gʻuzor ( uz, Gʻuzor; tg, Гузор; russian: Гузар, Guzar; fa, گذار) is a city in Qashqadaryo Region of Uzbekistan. It serves as the administrative center of Gʻuzor District. Its population is 24,500 (2016). The town is home to a Polish War cemetery, one of many along the route that General Anders' army took during the Second World War. Population History Guzar was one of the most important cities of the Bukhara Khanate. The status of the city was assigned in 1977 (before that - a village).
