Kasem Chatikavanich
Kasem Chatikavanij (18 March 1924 – 17 October 2010), popularly known as "Super K", was the Governor of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand and Chairman of Bangkok Mass Transit System PCL (BTSC), the operator of the Bangkok Skytrain. His nephew, Korn Chatikavanij, is a prominent member of the Democrat Party. Early life Kasem studied primary school at Assumption College (Thailand), Assumption College. While studying in secondary two his father sent to study at St Stephen's College (Hong Kong), St Stephen's College to be a buddy with Bhichai Rattakul, former Deputy Prime Minister. Then went to study at University of Hong Kong until the Pacific War causing learning to be stopped. When the war broke out, he returned to study in engineering, electrical and mechanical fields at the Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University. Si Lom Road (also written as Silom, th, สีลม, ) is a major street in the Thai capital Bangkok, best known for its commercial neighbourhood, which, along with the nearby and roughly parallel Sathon Road, forms one of the city's main business districts. Bangkok Mass Transit System Public Company Limited (BTSC, th, บริษัทระบบขนส่งมวลชนกรุงเทพ จำกัด (มหาชน)) is a Thai transport company, best known as the operator of Bangkok's BTS Skytrain. It is a majority-owned subsidiary of BTS Group Holdings (BTSG, previously known as Tanayong), and also operates the Bangkok BRT and the Gold Line. History and operations BTSC was founded by Keeree Kanjanapas in 1992 to serve as Tanayong's concession operator for Bangkok's then-planned elevated rapid transit system. Keeree Kanjanapas (Thai: คีรี กาญจนพาสน์; ; English: Wong Chong Shan) was born in Bangkok, Thailand in 1950. His family roots are in Chaozhou (Guangdong Province). He is a Thai entrepreneur with extensive business interests in mass transit and real estate in Thailand. He is the founder and CEO of the Bangkok Mass Transit System PCL (BTSC) " BTS Skytrain". He is chairman of the listed Tanayong Public Company Limited, a long-established property developer and hospitality operator in Thailand. Seiko S. A. 1997 Asian Financial Crisis
The Asian financial crisis was a period of financial crisis that gripped much of East Asia and Southeast Asia beginning in July 1997 and raised fears of a worldwide economic meltdown due to financial contagion. However, the recovery in 1998–1999 was rapid and worries of a meltdown subsided.
