Kasaji
Kasaji is a city and administrative district in the Democratic Republic of Congo. It is located in the province of Lualaba Province, Lualaba, in the southern part of the country, 1100 km southeast of the capital Kinshasa. The region surrounding Kasaji is sparsely populated, with about 8 inhabitants per square kilometer. Kasaji is crossed by the Benguela railway, which connects it to Kolwezi, the capital of the province of Lualaba, and; to the city of Luau, Moxico, Luau, in Angola. Rovos Rail Journey Information. Lualaba Province
Lualaba is one of the 21 new provinces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo created in the 2015 repartitioning. Lualaba, Haut-Katanga, Haut-Lomami, and Tanganyika provinces are the result of the dismemberment of the former Katanga province. Lualaba was formed from the Lualaba and Kolwezi districts. Kolwezi was a hybrid city/district which was separated from its two territories and the city proper became the capital of the new province. Former province Lualaba Province was separated from Katanga Province on 30 June 1963. Kinshasa
Kinshasa (; ; ln, Kinsásá), formerly Léopoldville ( nl, Leopoldstad), is the capital and largest city of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Once a site of fishing and trading villages situated along the Congo River, Kinshasa is now one of the world's fastest growing megacities. The city of Kinshasa is also one of the DRC's 26 provinces. Because the administrative boundaries of the city-province cover a vast area, over 90 percent of the city-province's land is rural in nature, and the urban area occupies a small but expanding section on the western side. Kolwezi
Kolwezi or Kolwesi is the capital city of Lualaba Province in the south of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, west of Likasi. It is home to an airport and a railway to Lubumbashi. Just outside of Kolwezi there is the static inverter plant of the HVDC Inga-Shaba. The population is approximately 573,000. Before the creation of Lualaba province in 2015 Kolwezi had two territories attached to it and the whole was known as the Kolwezi District. History The settlement was created in 1938 to be the headquarters for the western mining group of the ''Union Minière du Haut Katanga''. In 1971 it obtained city status and consisted of the communes of Dilala and Manika. In 1976 the territories of Lubudi and Mutshatsha, both previously part of Lualaba District, were attached to it to form the Kolwezi District (districts were called sub-regions at the time). Luau, Moxico
Luau is a town and municipality in Angola in the province of Moxico on the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo. Colonial period Until independence, the town was called Teixeira de Sousa, having been named after the Portuguese Prime Minister António Teixeira de Sousa. The town once had a population of nearly 90,000 due to its creation as a stopping point on the Benguela railway, which continued east to cross the nearby Luao River and enter Dilolo, where it connected to the Katanga rail network. It was developed as a railroad town by Sir Robert Williams, who was a friend of Cecil Rhodes. The town has downsized considerably since independence.
