''Karutha Joothan'' (English: The Black Jew) is a 2017 Indian Malayalam-language film written, directed and produced by Salim Kumar and starring himself in the lead role. Ramesh Pisharody, Subheesh Sudhi, and Usha other important roles. The film narrates the decimation of the Jewish community and its history in Mala, a small village in the Thrissur district of Kerala, through the life of Aron Ilyahu, a member of a prosperous Jewish family. The film released on 18 August 2017 in Kerala. At the 47th Kerala State Film Awards, the film received the Best Story for Kumar. Plot The story deals with the Jewish history in Kerala of 2000 years, mixed with the protagonist’s autobiography. The protagonist shown in the film is Aaron Eliyahu, a Jew from the village of Mala. Salim Kumar (born 10 October 1969) is an Indian actor, comedian, director and writer in Malayalam cinema. Mostly known for his comic and comedy roles, Salim Kumar is considered one of the best and most prominent comedians in the history of Malayalam cinema. Kerala State Film Award For Best Story
The Kerala State Film Award for Best Story is an honour, begun in 1969, presented annually at the Kerala State Film Award of India to a writer for the best story in a Malayalam film. Until 1997, the awards were managed directly by the Department of Cultural Affairs of the Government of Kerala. Since 1998, the awards have been constituted by the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy, an autonomous, non-profit institution functioning under the Department of Cultural Affairs. T. V. Ramesh (born 1 October 1983), professionally credited as Ramesh Pisharody, is an Indian stand-up comedian, impressionist, television presenter, actor and film director. He works in Malayalam television shows, stage, and cinema. Early life Pisharody was born as the youngest son in the family and has four siblings. He studied his first and second grades at Kendriya Vidyalaya in Velloor. It was an English-medium school, where he made his mimicry debut by imitating a dog's barking for a musical drama.
