Kartaltepe—Kocatepe (Istanbul Metro)
Kocatepe is a rapid transit station on the M1 line of the Istanbul Metro. It is located in central Bayrampaşa in the southern part of the neighborhoods Kocatepe. The station is on the north side of the Forum Istanbul Shopping Mall and has direct access to the mall. Kocatepe was opened on 3 September 1989 as part of the first rapid transit line in Istanbul as well as Turkey and is one of the six original stations of the M1 line. The station briefly served as the western terminus of the M1 between September and December 1989 until the line was extended to Esenler Esenler is a district of Istanbul, Turkey, on its European side. Istanbul Metro
The Istanbul Metro ( tr, İstanbul metrosu) is a rapid transit railway network that serves the city of Istanbul, Turkey. It is operated by Metro Istanbul, a company (formerly known as ''İstanbul Ulaşım A.Ş.'' before 2016), a public enterprise, controlled by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. The oldest section of the metro is the M1 line, which opened in 1989; it now includes 111 stations in service, with 100 more under construction. Atatürk Havalimanı (Istanbul Metro)
Atatürk Havalimanı is the western terminal station on the M1A line of the Istanbul Metro. The station services Atatürk International Airport in Istanbul, which was the primary international gateway in Turkey. Atatürk Havalimanı was opened on 20 December 2002, along with DTM—İstanbul Fuar Merkezi, when the M1A (then just ''M1'') was extended west of Yenibosna to the airport. The station is located next to the international terminal and is linked to the domestic terminal via a walkway. As a result of the closing of Atatürk International Airport for commercial passenger traffic and its replacement by a new airport northwest of the city in April 2019, the station no longer receives passenger traffic. Rail transport (also known as train transport) is a means of transport that transfers passengers and goods on wheeled vehicles running on rails, which are incorporated in tracks. Yenikapı Transfer Center
Yenikapı Transfer Center ( tr, Yenikapı Aktarma Merkezi), referred to as Yenikapı, is an underground transportation complex in Istanbul. It is located in south-central Fatih in the neighborhood of Yenikapı, hence the name of the hub. The complex is right next to the, indefinitely closed, Yenikapı railway station and a short walk away from the Yenikapı Ferry Terminal and İDO ferry service. Yenikapı complex links two stations of Istanbul Metro to a railway station of the Turkish State Railways on the trans-Bosphorus Marmaray tunnel. Island Platform
An island platform (also center platform, centre platform) is a station layout arrangement where a single platform is positioned between two tracks within a railway station, tram stop or transitway interchange. Island platforms are popular on twin-track routes due to pragmatic and cost reasons. They are also useful within larger stations where local and express services for the same direction of travel can be provided from opposite sides of the same platform thereby simplifying transfers between the two tracks. An alternative arrangement is to position side platforms on either side of the tracks. The historical use of island platforms depends greatly upon the location. Kirazlı (Istanbul Metro)
Kirazlı, or Kirazlı-Bağcılar, is an underground rapid transit complex of the Istanbul Metro and is serviced by lines M1B and M3. Kirazlı opened on 14 June 2013 as the southern terminus of the M3 line and eastern terminus of the M1B line. Since the M3 is considered a "continuation" of the M1B, passengers can transfer between these two lines for free. Kirazlı is the only station that offers free transfer in Istanbul. Rapid transit or mass rapid transit (MRT), also known as heavy rail or metro, is a type of high-capacity public transport generally found in urban areas. Esenler (Istanbul Metro)
Esenler is a rapid transit station on the M1B line of the Istanbul Metro. The station is the on the M1B branch of the M1 line and is the first stop west of where the M1B splits from the M1A. The station is adjacent to the Esenler maintenance facility which was originally built in 1989. Plans to bring passenger service to Esenler existed since the mid-2000s when the station was built, but the municipality wasn't able to see the plans through. Esenler station was opened to the public on 22 February 2012, as part of the new M1B branch that would extend to Kirazlı and connect with the M3. The station design is unique as one platform is higher than the other and is in-between both tracks, despite being a side platform. This is so that the westbound track can pass over the tracks from the adjacent maintenance facility. Bayrampaşa
Bayrampaşa (pronounced ) is a suburban district of Istanbul, Turkey on the European side of the city. The mayor is Atila Aydıner (AK Party). History Up to 1936, Bayrampaşa was part of Fatih district. It was then part of Eyüp district between 1936 and 1990. Until 1970, the area was known as Sağmalcılar, when a large outbreak of cholera, caused by pollution of the Ottoman-built water supply by new buildings and factories, led to the area being quarantined. Following this incident, the name Sağmalcılar became synonymous with cholera, so the district was renamed Bayrampaşa, after the 17th-century Ottoman grand vizier Bayram Pasha. Little of the Ottoman water system, which was built by Mimar Sinan, remains today. On 1 December 2015, an explosion occurred near Bayrampaşa metro station, leaving several injured.
