Karol Bahrke (March 16, 1868 – 1935) was a Polish Printer and Publisher. He was born to Masurian parents. Early publishing career In 1896 he bought a printing house, co-founded by Mazurska Partia Ludowa. His print shop's main press release was "Gazeta Ludowa" ("People's Gazette") with a circulation of 2,000 copies, where he was the editor. Karol Boscamp-Lasopolski
Karol Boscamp-Lasopolski (also Boskamp, de Boscamp, de Boskamp) (died 28 June 1794) was a Dutch diplomat in service of Poland and Russia. He was a Chamberlain in the court of Polish king Stanisław August Poniatowski. He was lynched by a mob during the Warsaw Uprising of 1794. Biography Little is known about his youth. He was born in the Netherlands; some other sources note his French origin. He served as a courier for the Prussian envoy in Istanbul during the Seven Years' War. In 1761 he served as an adviser to Crimean Khan, Qırım Giray. After he became estranged from the Khan, he left for Poland. From 1764 he served in the Polish diplomatic service, first under Familia, and soon under king Stanisław August Poniatowski. Karol Borsuk
Karol Borsuk (May 8, 1905 – January 24, 1982) was a Polish mathematician. His main interest was topology, while he obtained significant results also in functional analysis. Borsuk introduced the theory of '' absolute retracts'' (ARs) and ''absolute neighborhood retracts'' (ANRs), and the cohomotopy groups, later called Borsuk– Spanier cohomotopy groups. He also founded shape theory. He has constructed various beautiful examples of topological spaces, e.g. an acyclic, 3-dimensional continuum which admits a fixed point free homeomorphism onto itself; also 2-dimensional, contractible polyhedra which have no free edge. His topological and geometric conjectures and themes stimulated research for more than half a century; in particular, his open problems stimulated the infinite-dimensional topology. Karol Olgierd Borchardt ( 25 March 1905 – 20 May 1986 ) was a Polish writer and captain of the Polish Merchant Marine. Biography Born to Polish parents in Moscow, Karol Borchardt spent the vast majority of his life in Gdynia and died there in 1986. Borchardt gained a place in history of the Polish Merchant Marine, as an officer on Polish transatlantic liners and training sail ships. During World War II he served on two Polish liners converted into troop transports (the m/v PIłSUDSKI and the m/v CHROBRY), and survived the loss of both. After the war he trained two generations of Polish officers. While demanding, he had a reputation as a warm-hearted and understanding teacher, and an excellent lecturer. Karol Bohdanowicz (born 29 November 1864 in Lucyn – died 5 June 1947 in Warsaw) was a Polish geologist, an expert in mining geology and physical geography. Bohdanowicz' research contributed to the construction of the Caspian railway line and enabled the estimation of oil deposits in the desert areas of the Caspian Depression. He also discovered substantial gold deposits in Siberia. He was the author of about 200 scientific papers, including a number of textbooks on geology of deposits and two monographs: 'Mineral raw materials of the world' and 'Iron ores'. Karol Bielecki
Karol Bielecki (born 23 January 1982) is a Polish former handball player who played for the Polish national team. Career He played for the national team, winning a silver medal in the World Handball Championship in 2007 and a bronze in 2009 and 2015. He announced his retirement from the national team on 13 April 2012, following the unsuccessful Olympic campaign of Poland. On 11 June 2010, Bielecki received severe eye injury during a friendly match against Croatia. After additional tests and eye surgeries, it was determined that his left eye will remain blind. Although he first said that his years as a player were over, he decided to continue his career. He then played in special goggles and had scored 11 goals in his Bundesliga debut after the injury. On 1 February 2015, Poland, including Bielecki, won the bronze medal of the 2015 World Championship.
