Karl Willetts
Karl Willetts (born 21 September 1966) is an English death metal vocalist, best known as the lead singer of Bolt Thrower and Memoriam. Biography Willetts joined the British death metal band Bolt Thrower in 1988. Before that, he drove the backline of the band. He stayed with Bolt Thrower until 1994, after the recording of '' ...For Victory''. He left the band mainly because he wanted to go back to university and finish his degree. Willetts rejoined as a session vocalist for the recording of ''Mercenary'' and left shortly thereafter because of financial reasons and lack of commitment. In the meantime, he got a job as a salesman of insurances besides other jobs. He resides in Solihull. Rumours persisted he had returned in 2001, but he did not. Roadburn Festival
Roadburn Festival is an international music festival held in Tilburg, Netherlands every April since 1999. It was set up as a spin-off from the Roadburn music blog founded by Jurgen van den Brand and Walter Hoeijmakers. Originally focused on stoner rock, Roadburn grew into a major event spanning the entire spectrum of heavy rock and experimental music. The key staff involved with running the festival are Frens Frijns (managing director, CEO of Tilburg's 013 venue), Walter Hoeijmakers (promoter, artistic director) and Becky Laverty (press, communication, side programme). Since 2014, Roadburn Festival publishes a daily fanzine that is distributed freely to its attendees. The Accüsed
The Accüsed is an American crossover thrash band from Seattle founded in 1981. The band was a progenitor of the crossover style that bridged the gap between thrashcore and thrash metal, later influencing grindcore and some crust punk bands; as well as an influential band in the Seattle area alternative scene. The band calls their music "splattercore", and their zombie mascot, Martha Splatterhead, appears on most of their albums. Common themes involve social issues and Martha Splatterhead coming back from the dead to slaughter rapists and child molesters. ''Those Once Loyal'' is the eighth and final album by the British death metal band Bolt Thrower. It was released on 11 November 2005 in Germany, 14 November 2005 in the rest of Europe and 15 November 2005 in the United States by Metal Blade Records. It was recorded and mixed at Sable Rose Studioin Coventry, England. It is produced by the band and Andy Faulkner. With Bolt Thrower deciding against releasing a follow-up to ''Those Once Loyal'', it was Bolt Thrower's final studio album before breaking up a year after drummer Martin Kearns' death in September 2015. Like all of Bolt Thrower's albums, ''Those Once Loyal'' deals with war, specifically World War I. Who Dares Wins (album)
''Who Dares Wins'' is a compilation of various rare Bolt Thrower tracks from EPs and other sources: Tracks 1–4 are from the Cenotaph EP, tracks 5–8 are from the Spearhead EP and the tracks 9 and 10 are from the same session as " ...For Victory", previously released on " Rareache" (the anniversary compilation boxset of Earache Records) and the Japanese version of ''...For Victory''. It is released on Earache Records, Mosh 208 on 14 September 1998. The cover art is also taken from the ''Spearhead'' EP. The release coincided with the release of the album ''Mercenary'', which was Bolt Thrower's first album for Metal Blade Records. The band have hence accused Earache of trying to cash in on the band. Also, the album was originally intended to be titled ''No Guts, No Glory''; however because that is the title of a song on ''Mercenary'' Earache had to scrap that title. ''War'' is a live album by Bolt Thrower (band), Bolt Thrower recorded in Manchester 1992, on an 8-track tape. It was originally recorded by the band members in order to have some of their own live recordings for posterity. Later on Earache Records wanted to release a special edition of the ''...For Victory'' album, thus it was packed with that album in 1994 in a limited 2CD package; i.e., they just replaced the box with a 2CD box and added the second disc. The album is sometimes known or listed as ''Live War''. The promo edition was labeled Mosh 124, which is a mistake, since according to the official Earache catalogue Mosh 124 is a Fudge Tunnel album. ''The IVth Crusade'' is the fourth studio album by British death metal band Bolt Thrower. It was recorded at Sawmill Studios in August 1992 and produced by Bolt Thrower and Colin Richardson. The album was engineered by John Cornfield and mixed at Fon studios. It was also engineered by Alan Fisch and Steve Harris. It was released through Earache Records as Mosh 70 in 1992. The album title comes from the Fourth Crusade and the capturing of Constantinople. The cover artwork is a painting from Eugène Delacroix, showing "The Entry of the Crusaders in Constantinople". For this album Bolt Thrower slowed down considerably compared to ''War Master'', focusing more on playing heavy riffs and a thick sound. The album features a more death/doom metal-driven style, and which was influenced by doom metal bands including Candlemass and Pentagram. It is released on Strange Fruit Records, Strange Fruit: DEI 8118-2 in 1991 and recorded live in the studio. It is produced by Dale Griffin. War Master
''War Master'' is the third album by British death metal band Bolt Thrower. It was recorded at Slaughterhouse studios in September 1990 and produced by Bolt Thrower and Colin Richardson. It was released on Earache Records: Mosh 29 in 1991. Whereas ''Realm of Chaos'' was dominated by grindcore based blasts and riffs, this album abandons most of the grindcore influences for a sound that is more strictly death metal. Moreover, there is more melody in the music and the guitar solos, although some chaotic solos remain. This is also the final Bolt Thrower album to feature the blast beat style of drumming (which can be heard on four songs - "Unleashed (Upon Mankind)", "What Dwells Within", "War Master", and "Afterlife"), before it was abandoned and subsequently never used thereafter in the Bolt Thrower discography.
