Karl Gether Bomhoff
Karl Gether Bomhoff (6 August 1842 –23 September 1925) was a Norwegian pharmacist, politician and Governor of the Central Bank of Norway. Biography He was born in Larvik. He graduated as pharmacist in 1863, and worked in Drammen and Trondheim, and then a period as chemist in Dresden, Germany. He was managing director of Trondhjems mekaniske Værksted 1875–1878. In 1883 was elected to the Trondheim city council. in 1884 was elected to the board of Norges Bank, which at this time had its head office in Trondheim. He served as the first Governor of the Norges Bank from 1893 to 1920. Larvik
Larvik () is a List of cities in Norway, town and Municipalities of Norway, municipality in Vestfold in Vestfold og Telemark Counties of Norway, county, Norway. The administrative centre of the municipality is the city of Larvik. The municipality of Larvik has about 46,364 inhabitants. The municipality has a 110 km coastline, only shorter than that of neighbouring Sandefjord. The city achieved market town status in 1671. Larvik was established as a municipality on 1 January 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt). The city of Stavern, and the rural municipalities of Brunlanes, Hedrum, and Tjølling were forcefully merged into the municipality of Larvik on 1 January 1988. Nicolai Rygg
Nicolai Theodorius Nilssen Rygg (29 February 1872 – 27 September 1957) was a Norwegian economist and Governor of the Central Bank of Norway. Biography He was born in Stavanger as a son of shoemaker Ole Nilssen Rygg (1842–1908) and Ane Severine Larsdatter (1841–1913). He was a brother of journalist Andreas Nilsen Rygg. In 1910 he married physician's daughter Agnes Isidore Margrethe Sibbern Møller (1872–1963). He finished his secondary education in 1889, and graduated from the Royal Frederick University with the cand.jur. degree in 1894. He was a deputy judge in Vesterålen District Court before studying economics in Göttingen and Genève in 1896 to 1897, later statistics in the United States from 1904 to 1905. He worked in Statistics Norway from 1898, and from 1907 he doubled as secretary in Statistics Norway and research fellow at the Royal Frederick University. The Storting ( no, Stortinget ) (lit. the Great Thing) is the supreme legislature of Norway, established in 1814 by the Constitution of Norway. It is located in Oslo. Trondhjems mekaniske Værksted or TMV was a major shipbuilding company in Trondheim, Norway. History It was founded in 1872 by engineer and industrialist, Sophus August Weidemann. Weidemann had started in 1864 as manager of one of the pioneer companies in Trondheim. Weidemann resigned from his manager position in 1871 and founded Trondhjems mekaniske Værksted the following year. The company grew gradually until the turn of the century, when it had over 700 employees and was one of Norway's largest companies. For many years TMV was the biggest employer in Trondheim.
