Islam Abduganiyevich Karimov ( uz, Islom Abdugʻaniyevich Karimov / Ислом Абдуғаниевич Каримов, italics=no; russian: link=no, Ислам Абдуганиевич Каримов; 30 January 1938 – 2 September 2016) was the leader of Uzbekistan and its predecessor state, the Uzbek Soviet Socialist Republic, from 1989 until his death in 2016. Ergash Karimov ( uz, Ergash Karimov, Эргаш Каримов; russian: Эргаш Каримов) (October 26, 1935 – August 4, 2009) was an Uzbek stage actor who received critical acclaim for his roles in theater, film, and television. Karimov is best known for his roles in the 1972 Uzbek sketch comedy '' Uchrashuv''. Karimov was nicknamed the King of Uzbek Comedy during his long career in the Soviet Union. Scenes from some of his films during the 1970s are considered to be classics within Uzbek and Soviet comedy. Latif Huseyn oglu Karimov ( az, Lətif Hüseyn oğlu Kərimov; 17 November 1906 in Shusha – 8 September 1991 in Baku) was an Azerbaijani carpet designer known for his contributions to a variety of artistic fields, as well as for a number of books classifying and describing various designs of Azerbaijani rugs.
