Kari Rolfsen
Kari Rolfsen (12 October 1938 – 8 December 2020) was a Norwegian sculptor and illustrator. Career Rolfsen was born in Oslo, a daughter of Aase Espetvedt and Rolf Rolfsen, and was married to Karl Erik Harr. She studied at the Norwegian National Academy of Craft and Art Industry and further at the Norwegian National Academy of Fine Arts under the supervision of Per Palle Storm, further at Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze in Firenze, and at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts under supervision of Mogens Bøggild. Her sculptural works include ''På vei til bingo?'' (1975), ''Gammel kone med veske'' (1978; Gjøvik) and statue of Kristin Lavransdatter (1972), bust of Gisle Straume, reliefs of Andreas Mørch, Sigrid Undset and Cecilie Thoresen, and monument of Theodor Kittelsen. Oslo
Oslo ( , , or ; sma, Oslove) is the capital and most populous city of Norway. It constitutes both a county and a municipality. The municipality of Oslo had a population of in 2022, while the city's greater urban area had a population of in 2019, and the metropolitan area had an estimated population of in 2021. During the Viking Age the area was part of Viken. Theodor Kittelsen
Theodor Severin Kittelsen (27 April 1857 – 21 January 1914) was a Norwegian artist. He is one of the most popular artists in Norway. Kittelsen became famous for his nature paintings, as well as for his illustrations of fairy tales and legends, especially of trolls. Early life Kittelsen was born in the coastal town of Kragerø in Grenland, Norway. His father died when he was young, leaving a wife and eight children in difficult circumstances. Theodor was only 11 years old when he was apprenticed to a watchmaker. When at the age of 17 his talent was discovered by Diderich Maria Aall, he became a pupil at Wilhelm von Hannos drawing school in Christiania (now Oslo). Because of generous financial support by Aall he later studied in Munich. However, in 1879 Diderich Aall could no longer manage to support him, so Kittelsen had to earn his money as a draftsman for German newspapers and magazines. ''Sirene'' was a Norwegian feminist magazine, issued from 1973 to 1983. History and profile ''Sirene'' was launched in 1973. One of the founders was Bjørg Vik. The magazine was published by the publishing house J.W. Cappelens Forlag from 1973 to 1976, and thereafter by a dedicated foundation. It had a circulation of 20,000 at its maximum in 1975. Amalie Skram (22 August 1846 – 15 March 1905) was a Norwegian author and feminist who gave voice to a woman's point of view with her naturalist writing. In Norway, she is frequently considered the most important female writer of the Modern Breakthrough (''Det moderne gjennombrudd''). Her more notable works include a tetralogy, ''Hellemyrsfolket'' (1887–98) which portray relations within a family over four generations. Cecilie Thoresen
Ida Cecilie Thoresen Krog (née Thoresen; 7 March 1858 – 13 November 1911) was a Norwegian women's rights pioneer and Liberal Party politician, and the first female university student in Norway. She became famous when she was allowed to submit to examen artium in 1882, after an Act amendment had taken place. She was the first president of the women's rights association Skuld and a co-founder and vice president of its successor, the Norwegian Association for Women's Rights. She was also a co-founder and board member of the Norwegian Women's Public Health Association. She was active in the Liberal Party and her liberal views also colored her involvement in the women's rights movement. She was elected a deputy representative in Christiania City Council for the Liberal Party in 1901, as one of the first women elected to a political office in Norway.
