Kari Buen
Kari Buen (born 23 January 1938 at Kongsberg) is a Norwegian sculptor. Buen belongs to the artist family Buen from Jondalen, and is the daughter of the fiddler Anders A. Buen and the traditional musician Margit Buen. She is the sister of the musicians Hauk Buen, Knut Buen and Agnes Buen Garnås. She is particularly known for her work with reliefs, sculptures, wood carving work and drawings. Buen studied at the Art School in Trondheim under Karl Johan Flåthen 1958–1960, at the Norwegian National Academy of Fine Arts in Oslo under Per Palle Storm and Roar Wold 1963-66 and 1973–74, and at Rauland Academy under Knut Skinnarland 1978 to 1979. Kongsberg
Kongsberg () is a historical mining town and municipality in Buskerud, Viken county, Norway. The city is located on the river Numedalslågen at the entrance to the valley of Numedal. Kongsberg has been a centre of silver mining, arms production and forestry for centuries, and is the site of high technology industry including the headquarters of Norway's largest defence contractor Kongsberg Gruppen. Kongsberg, formerly spelled Konningsberg ( "King's Mountain"), was developed as a mining city on the basis of the Kongsberg Silver Mines, founded by and named after King Christian IV of Denmark and Norway in 1624. Knut Skinnarland
Knut ( Norwegian and Swedish), Knud (Danish), or Knútur (Icelandic) is a Scandinavian, German, and Dutch first name, of which the anglicised form is Canute. Per Palle Storm
Per Palle Storm (1 December 1910 – 6 January 1994) was a Danish-born Norwegian sculptor and professor at the Norwegian National Academy of Fine Arts. Biography He was born in Copenhagen and was raised in Argentina. He was the son of Hans Peter Blix Storm and Ellen von Müllen. His father was a businessman who served as a Norwegian Consul. Storm grew up in Buenos Aires where he was a student of the sculptors Bartolome Tasso and Urbici Soler (1927–29). He studied at the Norwegian National Academy of Fine Arts under Wilhelm Rasmussen (1930–33). He also studied art in Germany, Spain, France and Italy. In 1947 he became a professor at the National Academy of Fine Arts, a position he held until 1980, where his students included Oddmund Raudberget. The Norwegian National Academy of Arts ( no, Statens kunstakademi) is a Norwegian Academy offering studies in the area of Fine Art. The Academy currently offers 3-year bachelor and 2-year MA programmes.
