Karen Radner
Karen Radner (11 May 1972) is an Austrian Assyriologist, the Alexander von Humboldt Professor of Ancient History at the University of Munich. Early life and education Karen Radner started her studies at the University of Vienna in 1990 in Ancient Near Eastern Languages and Archaeology. She graduated in 1994 with an MA (summa cum laude) and 1997 with a PhD (summa cum laude). Her doctoral work was titled ''Die neuassyrischen Privatrechtsurkunden als Quelle für Mensch und Umwelt'' ("The Neo-Assyrian Private Legal Documents as Source for Mankind and Environment"). This study was published in 1997 as part of the State Archives of Assyria Studies Series (Vol. 6) based at the University of Helsinki. Assyriology
Assyriology (from Greek , ''Assyriā''; and , '' -logia'') is the archaeological, anthropological, and linguistic study of Assyria and the rest of ancient Mesopotamia (a region that encompassed what is now modern Iraq, northeastern Syria, southeastern Turkey, and northwestern and southwestern Iran) and of the related cultures that used cuneiform writing. The field covers Sumer, the early Sumero-Akkadian city-states, the Akkadian Empire, Ebla, the Akkadian and Imperial Aramaic speaking states of Assyria, Babylonia and the Sealand Dynasty, the migrant foreign dynasties of southern Mesopotamia, including the Gutians, Amorites, Kassites, Arameans, Suteans and Chaldeans. Qalat-i Dinka
Qalat-i Dinka is an archaeological excavation site in Iraq, which is located on the Little Zab, in the Sulaymaniyah Governorate, in the very north-east of the country. Excavations have been taking place there since 2016 after a fragment of a cuneiform tablet came to light by chance. The excavation results are available annually in preliminary reports and excavation publications. Qalat-i Dink is mainly the remains of a Neo-Assyrian city that took up about 60 hectares. The ancient name of the city is unknown. Modern robbery excavations have often disrupted the archaeological layers, which makes exploring the ruins more difficult. Earlier remains dating back to the Copper Age have also been found in various places in the city. A furnace from this time was completely uncovered. The size of the city and its structure are relatively well known due to magnometric surveys.
