Karen Palacios
Karen Palacios Pérez is a Venezuelan clarinetist who was part of the National System of Orchestras and the National Philharmonic of Venezuela. Palacios had her contract with the Philharmonic Orchestra canceled for having signed in the recall referendum organized by the opposition led National Assembly in 2017 and later detained for denouncing it on her Twitter account. Palacios was released on 16 July 2019. Career Palacios was a student at the Pedagogical Institute of Caracas and developed her career from the age of 11 in the National System of Orchestras and as a member of the National Philharmonic of Venezuela. In 2017, Karen signed in favor of the referendum organized by the opposition led National Assembly; she was later notified that her contract with the Philharmonic Orchestra was canceled because her political position was not convenient for the orchestra. Braulio Jatar is a Chilean-Venezuelan lawyer and journalist, director of the ''Reporte Confidencial'' website, and political prisoner. Career In addition to being a journalist, Jatar has served as a lawyer and political activist. He worked closely with Caracas journalist Oscar Yánez, has written five books, and in the 90s he was legal advisor to the National Congress. Jatar faced extortion charges in 1991 and went to Miami, being exonerated later. The Cassandra case ( es, Caso Cassandra) was a Spanish court case against Cassandra Vera Paz (born 3 November 1995). Vera was charged in 2016 with injury to victims of terrorism after she posted a series of tweets poking fun at the Franco-era assassination of Luis Carrero Blanco. Inés Margarita González Árraga (31 January 1973) is a Venezuelan former political prisoner, currently living in exile. Biography González studied chemistry at the University of Zulia, later completing a master's degree at the Venezuelan Institute for Scientific Research and a PhD at the University of Akron in the United States. On 4 October 2014, she was detained by Bolivarian Intelligence Service (SEBIN) officers for posting messages on Twitter about the death of ruling party deputy Robert Serra. She was initially indicted on charges of instigating hatred, violent insult and insulting a public official. Armando Cañizales Carrillo ( 1999-3 May 2017) was a Venezuelan violist member of the National Symphony Orchestra System killed during the 2017 Venezuelan protests. Killing Cañizales was going to start studying at the Central University of Venezuela Medicine School. On 3 May 2017, he was participating in a demonstration on Rio de Janeiro Avenue, in Las Mercedes urbanization, in Caracas, when he was shot at the base of his neck by a spherical metallic projectile, dying at the age of 18 years.
