Karen Grant is a character in ''Brookside (TV series), Brookside'' portrayed by Shelagh O'Hara from 1982 until 1986 with returns in 1988 and 1990. Grant Family The Grant family consisted of Bobby Grant (Brookside), Bobby Grant, Sheila Grant, Barry Grant, Karen Grant and Damon Grant. The family moved onto the Middle Class Brookside Close from a rundown council estate. Character in early episodes Karen Grant only appears briefly in the first episode, after she, brother Damon and their friends escape number 8 when Paul Collins (Brookside), Paul Collins opens the front door; her appearance is brief and uncredited, as she only has one line. Later in the episode Bobby is seen to be shouting at her through the bathroom door. 16-year-old Karen represented youth subculture and was moody, keeping herself apart from her parents. Jean Elaine Grey is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character has been known under the aliases Marvel Girl, Phoenix and Dark Phoenix. Created by writer Stan Lee and artist/co-plotter Jack Kirby, the character first appeared in ''Uncanny X-Men, The X-Men'' #1 (Sept. 1963). Jean is a member of a subspecies of humans known as Mutant (Marvel Comics), mutants, who are born with superhuman abilities. She was born with Telepathy, telepathic and Psychokinesis, telekinetic powers. Her powers first manifested when she saw her childhood friend being hit by a car. She is a caring, nurturing figure, but she also has to deal with being an Omega-level mutant and the physical manifestation of the cosmic Phoenix Force.
