Karapet Chalyan
Karapet Chalyan (born 7 August 1993) is an Armenian Greco-Roman wrestler. He is a silver medalist at the European Games and a two-time bronze medalist at the European Wrestling Championships. He also represented Armenia at the 2020 Summer Olympics held in Tokyo, Japan. Career In 2019, Chalyan represented Armenia at the European Games in Minsk, Belarus and he won the silver medal in the 77 kg event. In the final, he lost against Aleksandr Chekhirkin of Russia. Chalyan won one of the bronze medals in the 77 kg event at the 2020 European Wrestling Championships held in Rome, Italy. In the same year, he competed in the men's 77 kg event at the 2020 Individual Wrestling World Cup held in Belgrade, Serbia. In 2021, he lost his bronze medal match in the 82 kg event at the 2021 European Wrestling Championships in Warsaw, Poland. Amateur Wrestling
Amateur wrestling is a variant of wrestling practiced in collegiate, school, or other amateur level competitions. There are two international wrestling styles performed in the Olympic Games: freestyle and Greco-Roman. Both styles are under the supervision of the United World Wrestling (UWW; formerly known as FILA, from the French acronym for International Federation of Associated Wrestling Styles). A similar style, commonly called collegiate (also known as scholastic or folkstyle), is practiced in colleges and universities, secondary schools, middle schools, and among younger age groups in the United States. 2020 Individual Wrestling World Cup
The inaugural 2020 Individual World Wrestling Cup was held in Belgrade, Serbia from 12–18 December 2020. It was a replacement event for the 2020 World Championships, which should have taken place in the same location, but since some criteria were not fulfilled, such as not less than 8 top nations from the previous championships to participate, the event is not counted as world championships. The Cup took place amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, which caused this and other problems. The United States for instance chose not to participate. 2022 World Wrestling Championships
The 2022 World Wrestling Championships was the 17th edition of the World Wrestling Championships of combined events and was held between 10 and 18 September 2022 in Belgrade, Serbia. The UWW Bureau approved the candidature of Belgrade, Serbia as the host of the 2023 Senior World Championships. However, due to the restrictions on Russia for hosting World Championships in 2021–2022, Belgrade replaced the former city of Krasnoyarsk as the World Championships host for 2022. For 2023 the World Championships host will be reallocated to Russia. In addition, Russian and Belarusian athletes have been banned from 2022 World Championships. 2022 World Wrestling Championships – Men's Greco-Roman 82 Kg
The men's Greco-Roman 82 kilograms is a competition featured at the 2022 World Wrestling Championships, and was held in Belgrade, Serbia on 11 and 12 September 2022. This Greco-Roman wrestling competition consists of a single-elimination tournament, with a repechage used to determine the winner of two bronze medals. The two finalists face off for gold and silver medals. Each wrestler who loses to one of the two finalists moves into the repechage, culminating in a pair of bronze medal matches featuring the semifinal losers each facing the remaining repechage opponent from their half of the bracket. Rafig Huseynov ( az, Rafiq Hüseynov; born 16 May 1988) is an Azerbaijani people, Azerbaijani Greco-Roman wrestler. He defeated Hungarian Péter Bácsi for the gold medal in his respective division at the 2011 European Wrestling Championships in Dortmund, Germany. He won one of the bronze medals in his event at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. In 2021, Rafig became the world champion; and in 2022 he was a three-time European champion.
