Karalundi Community
Karalundi is a medium-sized Aboriginal community, located 60 km north of Meekatharra in the Mid West region of Western Australia, within the Shire of Meekatharra. Native title The community is located within the registered Wajarri Yamatji (WAD6033/98) native title claim area. Education Children of school age at Karalundi attend the Karalundi Aboriginal Education Community campus. It is a co-educational school catering for students K – 10. All students at the school are boarders. Students are resident only during the school term and return to their communities for holiday periods. North West Central is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Western Australia. The district is mostly based in the rural north-west of Western Australia. It is currently a marginal seat for the Nationals. History First known as North West Coastal, the district was first created for the 2005 state election, incorporating territory from the abolished districts of Burrup and Ningaloo. The Division of Durack is an Australian Electoral Division in the state of Western Australia. History The Division is named after the pioneering Durack family, upon whom Dame Mary Durack based her popular historical novels. Created to replace parts of the divisions of Kalgoorlie (which was abolished) and O'Connor, it elected its first member at the 2010 election. It was created as a comfortably safe Liberal seat. Karalundi College is an independent Seventh-day Adventist co-educational secondary boarding school for indigenous Australian students, located on the Great Northern Highway, north of Meekatharra, Western Australia, Australia.
