Kaptai Cantonment
Kaptai Cantonment is a cantonment located at Kaptai in Rangamati District. A navy base and the headquarters of 65th infantry brigade, which was under 24th Infantry Division of Bangladesh Army, are located in Kaptai. In 2015, the brigade was transferred under newly formed 10th Infantry Division Its prime role is to guard the Kaptai Dam. Kaptai Upazila
Kaptai ( bn, কাপ্তাই) is an Upazila of Rangamati District in the Division of Chittagong, Bangladesh. Name of the Kaptai was derived from a Tripuri word "Kaptetoima".It is said that in the past days the reverine was so wild and full in tropical flora and fauna. Huge amount of several verities of canes used to be found throughout the course of the river that flows that from the south, upper tridge and the river makes its estuary into the Kainsa Khyong (Karnafuli river). Rangamati Hill District (Chakma:𑄢𑄋𑄟𑄖𑄴𑄳𑄠 ;) is a district in south-eastern Bangladesh. It is a part of the Chattogram Division, and the town of Rangamati serves as the headquarters of the district. Kaptai Dam
Kaptai Dam ( bn, কাপ্তাই বাঁধ) is on the Karnaphuli River at Kaptai, upstream from Chittagong in Rangamati District, Bangladesh. It is an earth-fill embankment dam with a reservoir (known as Kaptai Lake) water storage capacity of . The primary purpose of the dam and reservoir was to generate hydroelectric power. Construction was completed in 1962, in then-East Pakistan. The generators in the Karnafuli Hydroelectric Power Station were commissioned between 1962 and 1988. It is the only hydroelectric power station in Bangladesh. History A brief reconnaissance occurred in 1906 when the Karnafuli Hydropower Station was first contemplated.
