Kao Chia-yu
Kao Chia-yu (; born 17 October 1980) is a Taiwanese politician and a member of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP). She was elected to the National Assembly (Republic of China), National Assembly in 2005. Upon assuming office, she became the youngest person to ever be seated in that legislative body. Between 2010 and 2020, Kao was a Taipei City Councillor. She was elected to the Legislative Yuan in 2020. Early life and education Born in Keelung on 17 October 1980, Kao is the eldest in the family, with a sister and a brother. Her parents own a provision store. She studied in the prestigious Taipei First Girls' High School, and proceeded to study law in the National Taiwan University (NTU). She now holds a Master's degree in Cross-Strait relations research from the NTU Graduate Institute of National Development. Lin Ying-meng
Lin Ying-meng (; born 20 October 1983) is a Taiwanese politician. She has served as a councillor of Taipei City Council since 2018. She was elected councillor representing Taipei City District 6 during the local elections, and is one of the first openly LGBT people voted into local legislatures in Taiwanese history. Early life and education Lin Ying-meng was born in Taichung on 20 October 1983. She received her education in Stella Matutina Girls' High School, a Catholic missionary school in the city. Chen Shui-bian
Chen Shui-bian (; born 12 October 1950) is a retired Taiwanese politician and lawyer who served as the president of the Republic of China (Taiwan) from 2000 to 2008. Chen was the first president from the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) which ended the Kuomintang's (KMT) 55 years of continuous rule in Taiwan. He is colloquially referred to as A-Bian (阿扁). A lawyer, Chen entered politics in 1980 during the Kaohsiung Incident as a member of the Tangwai movement and was elected to the Taipei City Council in 1981. 2008 Taiwan Legislative Election
The 2008 Taiwanese legislative election was held on 12 January 2008 for members of the Legislative Yuan. It was the first Legislative Yuan election after the constitutional amendments of 2005, which extended term length from three to four years, reduced seat count from 225 to 113, and introduced the current electoral system. The results gave the Kuomintang (KMT) and the Pan-Blue Coalition a supermajority (86 of the 113 seats) in the legislature, handing a heavy defeat to then-President Chen Shui-bian's Democratic Progressive Party, which won the remaining 27 seats only.
