The Kansas City Tornadoes were an American professional basketball team based in Kansas City, Missouri, and members of The Basketball League (TBL). History On September 27, 2017, North American Premier Basketball (NAPB) announced a team that will play in Kansas City, Missouri, and Calvin Thompson would be the head coach and general manager. On November 10, the team name was revealed as the KC Buzz as well as naming the assistant coaches and first players signed. On November 20, 2017, Georgia Tech sent a request to the Kansas City team to change the name and logo since they "have the trademark on the bumblebee as well as the word B-U-Z-Z." that is attached to their mascot Buzz. By the end of the month, the NAPB team had changed their moniker to the Tornados, sometimes written as "Tornado's" by their social media. Avila University
Avila University is a private Roman Catholic university in Kansas City, Missouri. It is sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet and offers bachelor's degrees and master's degrees. Kevin Allen Loder (born March 15, 1959) is an American former professional basketball player who was selected by the Kansas City Kings in the first round (17th pick overall) of the 1981 NBA draft. Municipal Auditorium is a multi-purpose facility located in Kansas City, Missouri. It opened in 1935 and features Streamline Moderne and Art Deco architecture and architectural details. Background Municipal Auditorium was the first building built as part of the "Ten-Year Plan", a bond program that passed by a 4 to 1 margin in 1931. The campaign was run by the Civic Improvement Committee chaired by Conrad H. Mann. Other buildings in the plan included the Kansas City City Hall and the Kansas City branch of the Jackson County Courthouse. The plan was championed by most local politicians including Thomas Pendergast and provided Pendergast with many patronage opportunities during the Great Depression. Buzz (mascot)
Buzz is the current official mascot of the Georgia Institute of Technology. Buzz is usually represented as a stylized yellowjacket with yellow-and-black fur, white wings, a yellow head, and antennae. Buzz is almost never drawn with six legs, but rather with arms, legs, hands (in white gloves) and feet (in black Converse high tops), like a human. Invented in 1972 and restyled in 1979, Buzz reflects the tradition of referring to Georgia Tech students as "Yellow Jackets."
