Kanoya Air Base Museum
is an aerospace museum of the Japan Air Self-Defense Force in the city of Kanoya, Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan. The museum is located adjacent to Kanoya Air Field. History The museum opened in December 1973 (Showa 48) and reopened in July 1993 as the “New Historical Museum”. By exhibiting photographs, documents, and actual equipment (restored) from the days of the Imperial Japanese Navy Kanoya Air Base to the modern Maritime Self-Defense Force, the actual situation of the war and the Japanese Special Attack Units, the transition and activities of the equipment of the modern Maritime Self-Defense Force. It is intended that the meaning of protecting Japan will be understood by clarifying such things. The number of stored materials is about 5,500. Kanoya, Kagoshima
is a city in Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan. It is located in the southeastern Kyushu region in the central part of Ōsumi Peninsula. Kanoya is the most populous city in Japan without any connection to railway services, after the abolition of the Ōsumi Line in 1987. Geography Kanoya is located approximately at the heart of Ōsumi Peninsula with its city limits running approximately east and west and north and south. Kawanishi H8K
The Kawanishi H8K was a flying boat used by the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service during World War II for maritime patrol duties. The Allied reporting name for the type was "Emily". The Kawanishi H8K was a large, four-engine aircraft designed for long range and extended endurance on patrols or bombing missions typically flown alone over the ocean. The prototype first flew in January 1941, and H8K1s made their first combat sortie in March 1942. Fuji KM-2
The Fuji KM-2 is a Japanese propeller-driven light aircraft, which was developed by Fuji Heavy Industries from the Beech T-34 Mentor which Fuji built under licence.
