Kaniv ( uk, Канів, ) city located in Cherkasy Raion, Cherkasy Oblast (province) in central Ukraine. The city rests on the Dnieper River, and is also one of the main inland river ports on the Dnieper. Kaniv Reservoir
The Kaniv Reservoir ( uk, Канівське водосховище, ) is a water reservoir located on the Dnieper River in Ukraine. Named after the city of Kaniv, it covers a total area of 675 square kilometers within the Cherkasy and Kyiv Oblasts. It was created in 1972 following construction of the dams of the Kaniv Hydroelectric Power Plant on the Dnieper River. Taras Hill
Taras Hill or Chernecha Hora ( uk, Чернеча гора; literally, Monk's Hill) is a hill on the bank of the Dnieper near Kaniv in Ukraine and an important landmark of the Shevchenko National Preserve where the remains of the famous Ukrainian poet and artist Taras Shevchenko have been buried since 1861. The original site of Shevchenko's burial is the Smolensky Cemetery in St. Petersburg and later his body was moved to the banks of Dnieper. The hill formerly belonged to Kaniv's Holy Dormition monastery (Eastern Orthodox) that existed here since the 11th century. The monastery was the burial place of several hetmans of Ukraine: Ivan Pidkova, Samiylo Kishka and others. Due to the 100th Anniversary of Shevchenko birth, in 1914 the Russian government dispatched gendarmes and cossacks to prevent pilgrimage to the burial. Kaniv Hydroelectric Station
Kaniv Hydroelectric Power Plant is a hydroelectricity generating complex on the Dnieper River in Kaniv, Ukraine. It is operated by the Ukrhydroenego that is part of the state company Energy Company of Ukraine. The power plant was projected by the Ukrainian department of project-research institute "UkrHydroProject" of S.Zhuk. The construction was conducted by several specialized in this field companies. During the construction also there was built a small settlement for the power plant's working personnel. Człuchów (, ''Człochòwo'', or ''Człëchòwò''; formerly ) is a town in the region of Gdańsk Pomerania, northwestern Poland, with 13,350 inhabitants as of December 2021.
